Chris Brown

L.A. County Probation Dept.

Launches Investigation

10/28/2013 3:36 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

1028-chris-brown-01
The wheels of justice are turning quickly for Chris Brown ... we've learned the L.A. County Probation Dept. has launched an investigation into Chris Brown's D.C. arrest to determine if it constitutes a violation of his probation in the Rihanna beating case.

We've learned -- and this is pretty ironic -- the Probation Dept. found out about the arrest from Chris' lawyer, Mark Geragos.  We're told Geragos called Probation Sunday morning -- hours after the arrest -- to inform them of what went down.

Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... Probation officials have been in contact with D.C. authorities.  Probation investigators will conduct their own investigation, and determine if there's good reason to believe Brown committed a crime when he allegedly punched a man in the nose Sunday morning.

The Probation Dept. will submit its report to the judge in the Rihanna case, who will decide if Brown's probation should be revoked.  Worst case scenario for Brown -- 4 years in prison for a probation violation.

I believe his lawyer or Chris is obligated to inform the probation dept....so it was not a grand move by his Atty.

Wow ...

If they don't violate him and the judge doesn't do something here in L.A. it only advertises violent offenders can do what they want and not concern themselves with punishment.

Unfortunately the Judges in LA LA land have all been neutered. This complete douc$bag will probably skate again. What do you have to do kill someone before the courts actual meter out justice, Oh Yeah, I forgot in LALAA Land you can kill and get away with it, ask OJ). Somebody just needs to cap his sorry ass, then we can all celebrate.

Well, given that his lawyers are pretty goddamn fantastic, getting him out of what's undeniably a damn felony (seriously, he broke the guy's nose! How the f*ck can that be a misdemeanour?! LOL. Oh, justice system - you are a joke and the basis on which the angriest of us all will start another revolution upon!)

... Yeah, completely expecting nothing to come out of this.

Please yes! Actually I don't think he's safe just because it was dropped to a misdemeanor. He doesn't even need a conviction to be in violation of probation- the charge is enough if the probation judge decides the evidence is good enough, the rules are different for probation hearings. Violent behavior coupled with police contact plus charges can be enough to get the dear boy in a lot of trouble. His other violent encounters may not have had enough total but this one might, especially since he has a clear history and he's on probation for a violent felony. The fact that he waffled the hours for his community service sentence won't help.
