Susan Boyle

I Got Asperger Syndrome

12/8/2013 10:01 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
breaking news

1208_susan-boyle_tmzSusan Boyle has announced she was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome sometime last year ... but says the whole thing has been one big blessing in disguise.

The "Britain's Got Talent" star made the announcement Sunday with the UK Guardian ... telling them her diagnosis was a relief -- because people will finally get a "greater understanding" of who she is.

Susan says she struggles with relationship and communicative difficulties -- but getting a grasp on her Asperger's will help her deal with those sitations better.

For those unaware -- Asperger's is a mild form of autism.

Susan adds, "Now I have a clearer understanding of what's wrong and I feel relieved and a bit more relaxed about myself."

20 years ago, Asperger was known as couch potato, ADD & ADHD as spoilt brat stupidity. But rich people can`t stand that they have no superior but stupid kids. Therefore they pay medical institutes to invent new diagnoses as an excuse for their trashy kids.

Finally something positive about Aspergers! Unfairly people who have Aspergers are usually betrayed so negatively.

They haven't taken it out of the medical books. Since it is an autism spectrum disorder, they have it covered under that rather then have it separated by itself.

I doubt this, Asperger sufferers are usually quite intelligent. As displayed by this person, she is the complete opposite.

According to the DSM-5 the current diagnostic manual clinicians use to diagnose disabilities/disorders Asperger's syndrome is no longer a diagnostic catagory. The only diagnosis according to DSM 5 that has to do with Autism is called Autism Spectrum Disorder. Whoever needs more information on Autism and Asperger's here is a website for you

My son has Asperger's and trust me there is nothing mild about it. Everyday is a new challenge but I love my little man more than anything if the world.

She has always known there was something that was not quite right. It does have to be a relief to finally be diagnosed after all of these years. She should be an inspiration to others who are very intelligent like she is that they too can achieve higher goals even if it takes a long time. Another good friend has a nephew with a mild form of this syndrome and he is very high functioning. He is at the top of his high school class and the future looks bright for him.

Seriously? It took how many years to figure this out??? My wife - who has some expertise in this field - listened to her story when she first got famous and said, 'Wow, classic Asperger's, it looks like'
