Paul Walker

Family Believes Road Bumps Sealed His Fate

Paul Walker
died after the speeding Porsche in which he was riding hydroplaned on reflective plastic markers in the street ... at least that's what his family and accident reconstruction experts believe.

Sources close to Paul's family tell TMZ ... the family has been in touch with stunt experts who have gone to the crash site and come back with what they believe is a solid theory -- a speeding car that hits the plastic markers -- called Botts' Dots -- will hydroplane, causing the driver to lose control.

We've learned the experts have told the family ... a car going speeds approaching 90 MPH will lose traction after hitting a series of Botts' Dots.  It's akin to driving on ice -- and  control is further compromised by the fact that the Porsche was outfitted with special racing tires that have very little tread.

And there's this ... Porsche sent out a memo to dealers back in 2004, warning about control problems with the Carrera GT, saying, "This vehicle cannot drive over a Foster Beer can that is lying on its side.  It will crush the can and damage the carbon fiber under panels," adding, "You need to be aware of what type of road surface you are on (dips, pot holes, seam heights, etc.)."

Law enforcement sources say they have not concluded the exact cause of the accident, but it appears they're looking at the Botts' Dots ... as a viable theory for triggering the fatal crash.

Ive always liked P.Walker as an actor & for all his humanitarian efforts but, his family is in "denial" of what really sealed his fate..in order to heal they have to face the truth so they can set an example & maybe just maybe this tragedy doesnt happen to someone else..unfortunately the real world is full tragedies its what we do after that makes a difference. R.I.P Paul <3

Geezh people all the article is saying is that those bumps could have destabilized the car because of the high rate of speed. No one is saying speed was not a factor. dont get ur panties in a bunch. The bump theory makes sense. High rate of speed in a turn and you start hitting those bumps and away you go.

Last time I checked there has to be a wet surface for a vehicle to hydroplane. How can a car hydroplane on a piece of plastic? The cause is excessive speed, period. It is sad for the family and I know they want some kind of better explanation other than irresponsibility. Every one makes bad decisions, This one cost him and his friend their lives. I think the best thing the family could do for his memory is to advocate for safer driving.

Sorry.... as many nice things can be said about this young man without having some grieving or $$$ person start talking CRAP.... The only thing that killed Paul was PURE... BLINING.... UNADULTERATING STUPIDITY.... To be driving TOO Fast and TOO Furious on a PUBLIC street is what killed the guy and THANK GOD they didn't take anyone else (like a young family or pregnant mother) with them.... LET HIM REST IN PEACE.... By the way..... Chad Crawford is also a doppelganger for Paul.... rest his soul.

Its such a tragic thing to see such beautful people killed at such a young age. I get ill when I think of "If their was an great deal of pain for both Paul and the driver." I feel so sad for the family of Paul and his friend. Such a loss. I think that the do***ent above clearly states that this cars are very easily misguided. So sad that they had not taken another route, Well maybe a higher power had something in store for them.

The "do***ent" saying that the Carrera can't drive over a beer can is NOT the do***ent faxed with that fax header. The header was for a travel itinerary, not a road hazard bulletin. I became suspicious when Porsche was allegedly saying some very negative things about the Carrera. It just didn't sound like something that would come out of a corporate office. They'd be exposing themselves to far too much liability under cir***stances exactly like those in which Paul Walker died.

TMZ have you been taking Fox News lessons or don't you think we're bright enough to figure out that two do***ents have been pasted together, trying to make them look like one?

Speed Bumps are a Public Danager. Abolish :"Botts Dotts" immediatelly. Speed bumps only serve mechanic shops for alignment jobs.

A button in the road will never make a car go out of control. OOOOH !!! I forgot, they were driving in excess of 90 MPH on a public STREET. Thank God they were the only ones involved and didn't kill anyone else.

What seal his FATE was the driver who decided to take Paul's life in his hands and go 90+ in a business district at where there is a curve in the street..... That's who the family needs to be blaming the so called "race care driver."

Paul Walker was not driving the car so people need to stop saying he was speeding when he wasnt even behind the wheel. Unfortunately, he was the victim of his friend's careless driving. Never be afraid to tell someone to slow down if they are driving dangerously fast and you are riding in the car with them. Speak up. It may save your life or someone else's!
