'Wheel of Fortune' Player

Mind-Blowing Guess

3/20/2014 8:55 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The guy who correctly guessed the remaining letters in "Ne_ ____ _____" on "Wheel of Fortune" last night -- ON HIS FIRST TRY -- tells TMZ, the game was not rigged ... he really did pull the right answer out of his ass.

Emil De Leon -- who won $45,000 for the insane guess -- is a nursing student at the NCP College of Nursing in San Fran ... and while the show was being filmed in January, he was studying pediatrics.

Emil says he had babies on his mind during the show and got completely lucky -- once you watch the clip, you'll understand why this makes sense. Emil also says he's watched "Wheel of Fortune" forever and he's pretty much a pro at solving word puzzles.

Emil adds, Pat Sajak and Vanna White even pulled him aside afterward and told him he was one of the best players ever.

As for what Emil plans to do with his money -- he says he'll be putting most of it towards his nursing degree ... but plans to splurge a little on a trip to Cabo very soon.

See if you can guess Emil's answer before watching the clip.

Lucky guess? I think not! Coincidence that "New Baby Buggy" is owned by Jerry Seinfeld's wife who just so happens to be friends with Merv Griffen?! Hmmmm... advertisement & publicity for the show that has been slipping in the ratings department. That's my take on this... SCAM EXPOSED!!

He knew what those missing letters were NOT, so it isn't as out of the blue as people make it, especially if he started with B, B A....

Sure took a long time for the answer to show.

He looked startled when his guess wasn't immediately acknowledged. I don't believe for one second that this was skill. He looked like he had been coached.

I saw it during dinner. The guy was just a really good player with a bit of luck thrown in. It didn't appear rigged at all.

If you look up research on phrases, it actually is quite easy to figure out once you remember what letters cannot be used and what letters are on the board. There are not many letters left, leaving the word choices pretty small. Look it up and think about how many letters are already used.

Guys - seriously... Get over it!! The contestant clearly won by chance ... Just don't think everything has a conspiracy behind it! Not everything in life is rigged. I'm sure you guys wouldn't want everyone else thinking you cheated when you won fair n square :) keep smiling!

I guessed the exact same thing. I learned it in choir, to warm up vocals. It's not unusual to hear that if you've been in a choir.

Regardless of whether it was rigged or not , he still won $45,000 !!!!!!

If you watch closely, you'll notice a delay between the time he gives the answer and the blocks are lit up, which makes me think that the answer may have been created after he said it. But why? What's so special about this contestant? Since there's no logical explanation in my head, I'll settle for it was miraculous guess.
