Whitney Houston Biopic

New Version of 'Bodyguard' Classic

It's ... A. Amazing B. Sucky

EXCLUSIVE

Whitney Houston MovieThe highlight of the upcoming Whitney Houston biopic is obviously her singing "I Will Always Love You," and TMZ got hold of the re-created new version of the song and it's, well ... different.

Whitney's family is at war with Lifetime, trying to block the movie because they don't think it properly honors her.  Obviously the family has blocked the network's ability to use authentic Whitney tracks.

So they hired a chick named Deborah Cox to voice Whitney's hits, and we got audio from the set, recorded this week, where Deborah belts out "The Bodyguard" hit.

There's a huge division in our newsroom.  Some people think Deborah -- who's famous for "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here" -- has a voice that's indistinguishable from Whitney's.  Others say it's a travesty to pretend Deborah and Whitney are in the same league.

So, we gotta ask ...

I love Deborah Cox .she is no Whitney . but I don't think that this whole movie thing is an good idea. It seems to be so soon and then the family doesn't approve of it.

I just wanted to comment

To call it "I will Always Love You 2.0" is to forget Dolly Parton was the real writer and also singer of the original. Whitney's was 2.0.

Zombie Whitney Houston

Her family is delusional. They don't think a Lifetime made-for-TV movie is good enough for a crackhead that let her ex-husband shove his fingers up her ass on a reality show to unblock her constipation?

Whitney and Debra collaborated before for "Same script different cast"! So Debra is on the same level as Whitney!

Houston family, get over yourselves and how you think the public thought of Whitney. Most people in their early 30's and younger only really remember her as a drug addict. A drug addict who could sing, but still, a very obvious, very sad drug addict. I think Deborahs version is great.

Thumbs up for Whitney's version. She was already a superstar, but that movie/song made her a legend.

It's beautiful on its own right. Deborah has a powerful voice and sang a duet with Whitney in the past... "Go for it!" All in all, though... no matter how good it is it just makes me miss The Voice all that much more. Quite frankly the only thing that I would be happy to see at this point is for Bobbi Kristina to lead a happy, healthy and productive life so that all Whitney struggled for would not be in vain. Live well, BKB. None of the rest of this stuff matters.

This Deborah Cox is no spring chicken. She's not Whitney, but she can sing. I hope that this Whitney biopic is better than Liz & Dick!

STFU... DOLLY'S WAS SOME COUNTRY BUFFOON VERSION IN A DUMB ASS COUNTRY MOVIE. SOUNDS TOTALLY LAME. WHITNEY BROUGHT IT TO MAIN STREAM AS AN RNB POP SONG WITH GOSPEL SOUL. TMZ ARE IDIOTS. DOLLY OWNS THE PUBLISHING DOESNT MEAN SHE SOUNDED GOOD SINGING IT. SHE FINALLY ADMITTED AFTER WHITNEY'S DEATH THAT THEY "BOTH" ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SONG'S SUCCESS. ALL DOLLY EVER CARED WAS THE F*CKING PUBLISHING PAPER. #TRUTH!!
