'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'

Original Leatherface:

I Saw Marilyn's Health Deteriorate

8/6/2014 11:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

Marilyn Burns Death
Gunnar Hansen -- who terrorized actress Marilyn Burns as Leatherface in the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" -- says Burns appeared skinny and frail in recent years ... and appeared to be in declining health before her death.

Hansen tells TMZ ... he and Burns remained close after the 1974 horror flick, and says her health issues were obvious to him in the last few years. But he adds, they never discussed any specific ailment.

TMZ broke the story ... the 65-year-old Burns was found dead Tuesday at her home in Houston. An autopsy is being conducted to determine cause of death.

Hansen -- who continues to act in slasher/horror flicks -- says he spoke to Burns once a month and would visit her at home -- calling her a wonderful woman who was humorous and generous.

He says he and other actors from the original film -- including Allen Danziger and Ed Neal -- are making arrangements to attend Burns' funeral.

Awwww. So sad she survived the Chainsaw Klan only to die at 65? Not fair.

And LEATHERFACE knows where I live. Over the years I've noticed that Gunnar Hansen signs his 8x10 glossy: "(name), I know where you live. - Gunnar."

Well, Gunnar is good friends with a steel guitar player that lives at the end of my street. I have a HUGE Loch Ness sea monster yard art in my yard that EVERYONE in South Austin knows. So Gunnar would see that on the way to his steel guitar buddy's house every time. So when I finally got Gunnar to sign an 8x10 LEATHERFACE photo for me.....he signed it:
"(my name), I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE." This time it was TRUE! Leatherface knows where I live. Woo wee. How exciting. I'll get the HEAD CHEESE out.

btw. did you know the original name for Texas Chainsaw Massacre was gunna be HEAD CHEESE.

So a B actress from a 70s horror film passed away. This is a backpage blurb and not front page news. Also, special extra credit note to TMZ on hipster overuse of the word legend. A legend is not some obscure showbiz talent remembered because he/she was around forever. It's not some tragic poison pop culture bad ass who died young by their own hand. It's not some street thug noise art dude from a toxic genre that almost everyone feels sucks. And it's not someone that you use the word for simply to appease old school media fans because you're too young to have heard of them. No, a legend is a 20th century showbiz icon who lived to be old and was world famous for more than three decades or at least 40 years if not many generations. Ill definitive of millennials who don't know the meaning of the word, now it's an oxymoron of modern times. Because pop culture has sucked for the past 20 years, today there's no such thing. And those who pretend there is are pundits of douchebaggery.

Adjusted inflation, 1974-2014 , the movie was a block buster , took in over 1.6 billion in box office receipts, cost less than 1 million to make. Adjustment for inflation for past 40 yrs is 4.13%
