Steven Slater

Steven Slater (born in 1972) is a former JetBlue flight attendant who quit his job in a very public display on August 9, 2010. Slater grabbed the plane's intercom, spewed some obscenities, grabbed two beers and activated the emergency slide aboard flight 1052, while it was sitting on the tarmac at JFK airport. He then slid down the slide, and went home, where he was arrested some time later. Slater was fined $10 thousand for his actions, and was required by the court to attend counseling sessions, in order to avoid prison time. He has said that he snapped as a result of "the perfect storm of bad manners....including my own."
