Robert Durst -- Hit With Gun Charges ... California Murder Case Delayed

Robert Durst was indicted on two gun charges in Louisiana Thursday morning -- and it means his murder case in California's getting pushed to the back burner.

Durst was charged with illegal possession of a firearm by a felon ... and for having the gun in the presence of a controlled substance. The FBI and cops say he had a loaded gun and marijuana when he was arrested in a New Orleans hotel room last month.

The star of HBO's "The Jinx" documentary was ordered held without bail -- and his extradition to Cali is now on hold indefinitely.
