Heath Shuler says he feels Robert Griffin's pain -- telling TMZ Sports he knows what it's like to be the QB of the future in Washington ... only to lose your job in the blink of an eye.
Of course, Shuler was supposed to save the Redskins when he was selected 3rd overall in the 1994 NFL Draft -- but lost his job to Gus Frerotte after not exactly living up to the expectations.
So, when Shuler was at Reagan National Airport yesterday, we asked about RG3 -- and he told us, "I know where he's coming from."
Don't feel too bad for Shuler -- he had a pretty good run in congress before becoming a lobbyist with a powerful energy company.
