Bend Oregon School Shooting Press Conference Details Tragic Events

Officials say the gunman in the tragic school shooting in Bend, Oregon was a 16-year-old Bend resident armed with a long gun.

During a press conference Thursday, Police Chief Mike Krantz shared some details about the horrific tragedy, but declined to say whether or not the gunman knew anyone at Silver Rail Elementary or had any ties to the school.

According to Krantz, 3 young children -- ages 5, 8 and 11 -- and one teacher were killed. The shooter is also dead.

Krantz said the unidentified shooter had been shot by a "community member" who he says saw the shooter enter the school and pursued him.

According to police, two others -- a 7-year-old and a 54-year-old teacher -- were brought to St. Charles Medical Center with critical injuries.
