Wayans Drops N-Bomb, Faces Fallout

Damon WayansDamon Wayans became the first famous offender of the Laugh Factory's ban on the use of the n-word, and was fined and banned from the club for three months as a result, Wayans' publicist tells TMZ.

After the Michael Richards incident on November 17, the club decided to ban use of the word and fine comedians $20 for every offense. Wayans took the stage Sunday during a showcase of African-American comedians called "Chocolate Sundaes." Wayans opened his routine with the line, "Give yourselves a big round of applause for coming down and supporting 'N***** Night.'" According to the L.A. Times, Wayans used the word 15 more times during his 20-minute appearance.

That's a $320 contribution to the Laugh Factory's swear jar. Wayans' rep had no further comment other than to confirm the fine and the temporary ban.

Andy Dick drew fire earlier this week for using the n-word during an appearance at the Improv.

4. First off, who makes them throw a $20 in the jar? What if they refuse? Are they going to call the cops? That is the dumbest thing I ever heard! Second, if you start to censor the comedians in the clubs, you might as well shut the doors. If you stop that word, then stop them from using all the other words as well. Jews, whities, homeboys, etc, etc, etc.

Get over it people!

5. This has gone way past the point of being ridiculous. Banning the word only gives it more power.

People need to get over it and get on with their lives.

6. Come on people this is getting so stupid, people need to relax and take a breath, but I do agree that if white people cant say it no one else should either since its so offensive to people!

The point of the Michael Richards thing was that he used the n word well then no one else should say it cause according to alot of people its not right! RIGHT???

7. At least they are consistently enforcing the new American fad - controlled speech

8. I don't think any word that has the possibilty to offend people should be banned... The Michael Richards incident had to do with him insulting an audience member using racial slurs, that isn't the same thing as using offending language in a comedic sense or as a work of drama for movies etc. Some people get offended by profanity, as well as multiple other things may offend one person but does another.

10. That word has always been offensive. It is associated with the the horrors of lynching. It is about time something was done about this.

11. This is way out of control, now they want to ban the word n*gger? What ever happened to free speech. Although I did not like what Ricards had to say--it is his right to say it. And they get to make money off charging the comedians a fine, how exploitive is that? Who gets the money? What the f***? Where were all these rules and fines the next day when Michael Richards was allowed to perform AGAIN. He started all this sh*t-yet he wasnt banned or charged any fines? If they are going to profit from the use of the word n*gger, and ban free speech at least they can give the money to some real n*ggas who need it.

12. This is not the "America" I was raised in!
This site and all media venues should be ashamed for blowing this "WAY OUT" of preportion, I am not going to blow hot air up your ass over this, but I will say "LET IT GO" the healing of some human beings needs to start and if this
"N-WORD" is so offensive let the race it hurts take the first step by "NOT USING IT" in there lyrics/movies/stand up.

It seems to me as an American born and raised in LA California were bigotry is leeching from the mouths of "FAMOUS" people that we "The Consumer's" of there goods and services can hit them were it hurts them most "THERE FAT BANK ACCOUNTS" do not buy there records, do not see there movies, and do not support them in any way. Maybe after all there money and fame dries up they will be human again like the rest of us?

13. Okay the word is offensive as it is...But why is that one word "BANNED" and it's okay to use other insulting words in regards to hispanics, asians and every other race? I get the double standard that blacks can call each other the "N" word but it's sacrilegious if a white person says it. It is what it is and it's a double standard. Just like the "F" word the "N" word can mean so many different variations and YES when used as an INSULT it can be hurtful; just like "F U ,U FATASS".

But really who the hell is gonna enforce comedians to add to the kitty swear jar? How efing stupid is that? What if they refuse? Is the SWEAR POLICE gonna come and take em away?

Just because this a**hole racist MR misused the word to the fullest extent why is it that everyone else has to blow this so efing out of proportion? Whether he has anger issues or not he's been exposed for the a**hole he is and he will always be marked as the man that VICIOUSLY ATTACKED PEOPLE RACIALLY in the audience.

It won't be the first or the last time a person of another color or race insulted another person of color or race. Build a bridge get efing over it and move on.

14. No No No! The Laugh Factory is way out of bounds here. This was an all colored folks night out. When ever you get a bunch of them together in one place they like to call each other N*gga. N*gga this, N*gga that, N*gga how yo momma? N*gga when yu get outa jail? It is the way they talk to one and other, so on a night lake chocolate sundaes night the N word is perfectly acceptable

15. As far as I'm concerned, Richards stooped low as to being narrow minded and foul mouthed. I believe he also faced that consequence nationwide for his offensive behavior. To conclude my thought or comment, I feel it is not fair for another no matter what race or national origin, to be so racist within the comedy industry.
Look what it has done for all society in general. It has captured every one's attention like wild fire, and has aroused every one's judgement in character.
In other words we ( the world) have been battling the race issue for years and years and years now. And for this to happen with Richards it has even more divided us all.
Just my own personal thought and opinion. Am I wrong for it?
