Michael Vick

'I Made Bad Decisions'

8/14/2009 1:15 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The Michael Vick "Please Don't Pelt Me with Objects" tour began today as Vick addressed the press for the first time as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Vick said all the right things -- like "I won't disappoint," "Playing in the NFL is a privilege, not a right," and "You only get one shot at a second chance" -- but he's still got a long way to go to win over the fans of Philly.

Remember, these are the same people that booed Santa Claus.

I'm no football fan, but I do think that since Vick has served his time, and has been contracted again as a pro football player, he is in a very unique position to promote a positive anti-violence message. I cannot read this man's honesty level and cannot see what is in his heart, but let's face it...many people who become violent toward people began with violence to animals.
I hope with all my heart that Vick does see with his own heart the level of cruelty he participated in and will not only never do it again, but promote a message of "hope and change" to youth and young adults who find themselves living with violence that there is a better way and that there is a way out of the mess. I hope he continues to work with the humane society, perhaps even becoming a loving dog owner, and sends a message to anyone living with violence that includes ways to reach out for help and gives them an "open door" to make peace, civility, and kindness toward all living beings the new cool choice for their own futures.

No, Michael Vick, this does not qualify as a "bad decision." It falls, rather, into the realm of "evil-hearted behavior." Can you read, Michael Vick? If so, try reading the book "Oogy" by Larry Levin. You are NOT "good people" nor a "whole other person" as your sponsor commented. Quote on football from Michael Vick: "It makes me feel invincible." Right, like torturing and killing helpless animals probably made you feel. Animal cruelty is one of the hallmarks of a violent person. You should NEVER again be allowed even near a dog.

If Chris Culliver can be forgiven for making hateful comments towards Gay people, the Michael Vick can be forgiven as well. Having a personal pet after reforming has nothing to do with his prior assault to Dogs that did not belong to him.
