Brad Pitt Takes a Hit -- Goes Down on Bike

10/26/2009 1:40 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Brad Pitt and his fancy motorcycle hit the asphalt hard this weekend after he clipped a parked car in L.A. -- and now we've got video of the whole thing.

In the footage, Pitt can be seen trying to maneuver his bike between a van and a parked car at a red light when he suddenly loses control -- and crashes to the ground.

During his fall, Brad slams against the car and it appears his bike knocks into the van.

Brad said he was "fine" after the minor crash -- but the chopper needed to be towed away.

It irritates the piss out of me when motorcyclists do this crap. Whether it be Brad Pitt or anyone else, why do they think they don't have to follow the rules? I have seen people stuck in traffic open their car doors to hit motorcyclists who try to do this crap. Not that I agree with them doing that but I can understand their frustration. Why do they think they should get there quicker than anyone else?

I don't see how its the paps fault at all. Brad needs to just expect it when he's in LA, goes with the territory. If he wants to avoid paps, stay out of pap areas, LA. Or use some of your billions to get a driver, he can afford it. And he should never go in between cars, when the bike is too big to do so. He clearly misjudged the space. If that van was turning right he could have been hurt more. At least the lady in the white van will be taken care of well, being the van that was nicked by Brad Pitt.

Shouldn't the police ticket him since it's on film?

Just like a photo radar or photo tickets on the highway that are everywhere that we all have to pay if "photo" of incident or traffic violation is made.

Well here actual footage of him passing on the right and tailgaiting and damaging not one, but two vehicles. Did he even inform the blue parked cars owner?

Soon he can ride smoking a joint and I bet he'll get away with that too.

Let us know if it shows up on his insurance like the rest of us.

and even if he was running from the paps, he is still endangering others by doing this. We didn't ask him to live the high life. You wanna be a big name, you are gonna get hounded. It isn't right, but it is how it is.

Money Talks

Brad did NOT run into a building, did NOT leave the scene of the accident. The media are to blame for lying to us all the time. Did you see all the nosy people hanging around? Go home bunch of losers. That was their once in a lifetime opportunity to be near a great star. GRRRRRRRRR.......... I'm so glad I am not a celebrity, at least in the US. Leave that guy alone, he'll ride his bike if he wants to, it is none of our business.

Unfortunately, lane splitting is legal ONLY in CA. It was just a stupid accident, but the size of the bike can be partly to blame. The spot was tight and the bike is not the size of a crotch rocket. Just look at the front end and size of the tire; those are not easy to maneuver. So, because of the bike (not his ability or inability,) he should not lane split.

P.S. I hate bikers that do this. It may be legal, but that doesn't mean it's always safe. It's legal to ride without a helmet in Illinois, but that doesn't mean it is the safe thing to do.

Lane splitting may be allowed, but he is passing on the right?

Is that legal in Cali?

In hindsight he should have stayed behind, but all and all he handled it ok. The golden helmet is a bit much, maybe a new on for x-mas Brad.

CAlifornia law states: Brad Pitt needs a citation pronto:

Passing on the Right
21754. The driver of a motor vehicle may overtake and pass to the right of another vehicle only under the following conditions:
(a) When the vehicle overtaken is making or about to make a left turn.

(b) Upon a highway within a business or residence district with unobstructed pavement of sufficient width for two or more lines of moving vehicles in the direction of travel.

(c) Upon any highway outside of a business or residence district with unobstructed pavement of sufficient width and clearly marked for two or more lines of moving traffic in the direction of travel.

(d) Upon a one-way street.

(e) Upon a highway divided into two roadways where traffic is restricted to one direction upon each of such roadways.

The provisions of this section shall not relieve the driver of a slow moving vehicle from the duty to drive as closely as practicable to the right hand edge of the roadway.

I can't believe with all the money he has he wears a cheap $19.95 helmet that won't protect his money maker (Face) if he were to go down at Speed.
Brad, get a real helmet
Suomy, Arai, Shoei, AGV,
How about some Gloves? Alpinestars/Dainese/Spidi
Need a jacket? Alpinestars/Dainese
Boots? Alpinestars/Dainese/Puma

These would be a drop in the bucket for you

@Barb Its hard to find any rider that doesn't do this anymore. There is nothing wrong with it at low speed like he was.

Really what he did was fine but that style bike isn't made to be ducking and diving in and out in tight spots. If he was on a normal production bike this wouldn't have happen. He just needs to leave this bike at home and not ride it in heavy LA traffic.
