The "Jersey Shore" kids didn't fall off the pizza delivery truck yesterday -- TMZ has learned they have rejected MTV's salary offer for Season 2.
Sources connected with the negotiation say MTV offered Snooki, Pauly D, "The Situation" and the others each a $10,000 signing bonus and $5,000 an episode.
We're told the cast rejected the offer and made it clear -- they were negotiating "Friends" style ... everyone would get the same amount and it had to be a lot higher than MTV's offer.
Sources say MTV came back and doubled the offer -- $10,000 an episode. The cast hasn't responded to the offer.
It's still a bargain. The season finale of "Jersey Shore" was off the charts with 4.8 million viewers.
And, with some members of "The Hills" scoring north of $100,000 an episode, the "Jersey Shore" kids, frankly, should be holding out for a hell of a lot more than $10k.
We've also learned MTV has a contractual hold on the cast for another year, so technically Snooki and company have no right to renegotiate -- but it's done all the time with hit shows.
An MTV spokesperson would not comment on the negotiations and said the network has not made a decision on bringing the show back for Season 2. We're also told MTV has received thousands of tapes from would-be Guidos and Guidettes.

I think I may have found some people I hate more than Spencer and Heidi. I said MAY have found!
Greedy b@stards!
kind of unrelated, but, if you want a laugh, afbconfessions . com is hilarious and will brighten your day.
I understand this show and the players on the show are popular NOW and they did bring in the ratings but IMO, they should take the $10K per episode and if they are still bringing in the high ratings next season then they should negotiate for more.
But for right now, to get $10,000 each week is more money than they will ever make on a 9-5, so they should not get big egos at this point.
We all know how fickle the public is. These people could lose their appeal by the end of next season.
They should get 10 bucks and a thank you/cancellation note. How long will it take snooki to do porn when it does get cancelled?
The caste is so exciting and popular they deserve to be well paid.
So many fans will be disappointed if the show doen't return in tact. Hope MTVs cheapo production values improve and rise to level of the fabuouls cast next season.
Whether you like it or not, the show is getting a lot of viewers. Even the people that are hating the show, has at one point have had to watch it to say they hate it. It's their choice to negotiate, but, I'll find it extremely amusing if they end up not even getting a contract for season 2. I mean, yeah they're popular now, but look how many seasons Lauren and Heidi and Spencer had to go through of The Hills to be where they are?
They are getting the veiwers and the crap talkers so hey give them more cash
Jen...I agree with your comment and with doodads about your site. Why would you want to search nationally on craigslist when the point of their site is to find local jobs, personals, and things for sale? And with that in mind, why would you want to go to a 3rd party site to search locally when they have a simple and reliable search themselves? Just food for thought! xoxo
can someone explain to me why this show is on tv. they all look greasy. and whats with the girl in the black she looks like she has had a big pole shoved in her ass. i'm going back to watch sesame street!!!
A pox on MTV for sticking us with these losers. Now you have the chance to cut bait and run. Do it. The collective intelligence of a nation plummets each minute these creeps are on the tube.
