'Jersey Shore' -- MTV Tries to Divide and Conquer

1/25/2010 10:40 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The stars of "Jersey Shore" have been negotiating with MTV like "Friends"... but the network could be turning them into enemies with some serious brinkmanship.

Jersey Shore
Sources tell TMZ the network has told the cast if they don't accept MTV's deal by the end of business Monday, they will be replaced. And, MTV has told them it does not have to be a package deal -- the cast members who accept the offer will stay ... those who do not can have a nice life.

As we first reported, MTV offered each cast member a $10,000 signing bonus and $5,000 per episode. We're told the cast rejected the offer and made it clear they would all stand together and hold out for their price, though they didn't say what it was.

MTV made a new offer of $10,000 an episode -- there are 12 episodes in the new season -- but so far the cast hasn't responded.

We're told MTV already has replacements if Snooki, Pauly D, The Situation and the others don't accept the offer on Monday. But, we're told, MTV is happy to mix and match if some of the cast accepts the offer and others don't.

As for who's being the most hard-headed in the negotiations -- The Situation and Pauly D.

I'm sick of this garbage. Pay these people and stop trying to scam reality show contestants. You're making millions. I don't care who they are, I'm sick of seeing Bravo and all these channels taking advantage of people.

They should take the money although they will probably never see the ratings they seen on that final episode so now may be the time to hit MTV in the pocket. Again though, MTV could replace them all in a heartbeat so its a tricky situation. I say take the money as its only there second season.

Considering that advertisers have been dropping this "show", these famewhores should be paying the producers.

What a joke with these "negotiations".

First of all I doubt anyone one of these "kids" can spell the word and if this goes what next?

Maybe MTV can do a show on "Celebrity Craps"; a variety hour or half an hour depending on what they eat.

TV has taken it on the chin with this show. It's nice to see people earning a living but acting like a dumb ass is reserved for politicians not a young good looking group like this.

Kudos to MTV.. Its about time someone brought a dose of reality back to the world. These aholes came from nowhere, they live in fantasy land and they are not even smart enough to realize that EVERY ONE just watches tme to laugh at how stupid, vapid nd ridicuolos these idiots really are. They have no talent, less education, few of them if any have any real job prospects and unilaterally nobody would want to be them or even be associated with them and they are too stupid to realize that. They give all italians a bad name. They are not even good at pretending to be thugs. If they were from the south they would be the epitomy of trailer trash, but I woudl not even insult New Jersey to that extent. They are the laughing stock of TV. I hope MTV sticks to their guns and holds the line. This is the deal, you have 24 hours to take it or get the hell out and go back to obcurity, whee you belong.

They should take the offer and if they want them to come for a third season than ask for way over the asking price...

I can see why they want more money especially since "The Hills" gets less ratings, the girls are dumb as well as whores and they get paid $100k per episode....

At least "The Situation" keeps it real and is always talking about how much he loves himself... unlike fake spencer who claims he loves that monster looking heidi chick.

The Jersey shore is everything they say it is but you can't deny the fact that its entertaining!

Keeping it real, they probably are making more money in one day than you probably make in a year, so while your here writing about them at 7am, they are home sleeping recovering from a party they got paid 10k to be at.. Stop hating...

There's one big difference between The Hills and JS. The Hills is full of actors. MTV thinks they are worth paying because they act poorly, but still). These Jersey Shore people are just themselves, and they're entertaining! Unfortunately MTV must think that watching other people being themselves would be just as entertaining. I don't think they realize the mass appeal of these nobodies. Even if you don't like them, you're still talking about them. Obviously there's something there.

Sorry Jersey Shore kids, but you guys aren't the "Friends" cast, see they had TALENT. You guys are a fluke, a reflection of the dumbing down of America. People can watch episodes of "Friends" over and over and still be entertained. What kind of a person would want to watch a repeat of Jersey Shore? MTV should get a new cast of Freaks for the next season, these guys are played out and predictable, and nobody wants to watch another season of more of the same. If Snookie wants to stay, she can, but everyone else should be replaced with fresh trashy people.

Yay! Another season of Jersey Shores! They need to keep them all next season! Sam & Ronnie are split up.. it will be interesting to watch them as they begin to hook up with other people! Priceless! And I love Pauly D, he's a sweetheart! The situation cracks me UP, he's so self absorbed but you can tell deep down he is a sweet guy! And skookie... snick.. snickers.. LMAO... I LOVE that chick! I never seen someone that easy try so hard to get laid, and every time something went wrong, and she ended up missing out!! PRICELESS! Please MTV, don't blow this! We love this show! It's hilarious! And no, I am not Italian, I am Irish/Cherokee. lol

These idiots can be replaced in one microsecond by any one of thousands of other greasy rejects!! Don't they realize that? MTV does-they all look and act alike, and after an episode or two, the people who watch this piece of crap show will forget all about the ones from the first season. Americans have a very short memory when it comes to reality TV and are ready, willing and able to move on to the next over the top group of wanna-be's.

Lets see, people with minimal intelligence/education and no discernible talents are being offered $130k each for a few weeks of going to bars, hooking up in hot tubs and the occasional fist fight. Something tells me they should sign on the dotted line ASAP.
