Jillian Michaels

Sued by Another Big,

Big Fan

2/16/2010 9:20 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Jillian Michaels Sued by Another Big, Big FanIf you're keeping score at home, this is the third time Jillian Michaels has been sued over her line of fat burning pills -- but this time, there are allegations they contain a "potentially lethal" blend of ingredients.

In the class action lawsuit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Kathy Hensley claims "The Biggest Loser" trainer "sold her proverbial soul to the devil" by teaming up with the companies that created her fat burner.

Hensley claims Jillian and those companies -- Thin Care and Basic Research -- failed to disclose that the main ingredients of the "Jillian Michael Maximum Strength Fat Burner" allegedly combine to make a "toxic cocktail."

In the lawsuit, Hensley claims one of the pill's ingredients -- citrus aurantium -- is "potentially lethal" and known to cause high blood pressure and serious cardiac problems in certain individuals.

Hensley filed the class action lawsuit against Jillian, Thin Care, Basic Research and Walgreens -- and is suing for less than $5,000,000.

Two lawsuits ago, Jillian's people told us the product was vetted by experts and she's confident she'll prevail in court.

Some products on the planet contain nuts which can be "potentionally lethal" too - is she suing them?

Seriously people.

The company that is claiming that they have had the product tested by experts is the same company that is currently being charged for not providing scientific backup for the claims that their products are making, Basic Research. They have been charged twice by the FTC for not having scientific studies to back up their claims.
It isn't that they don't have scientific studies to back up their claims BUT THAT THEY ARE MAKING CLAIMS THAT THEY HAVE SCIENTIFIC STUDIES AND NEVER PRODUCING THEM!! So, they claim that in studies this product has produced weightloss, and when forced by the government to show the studies, they failed to do so.
You can read about this company here and decide if you think that they are telling the truth when they say that they have tested their products.

By the way, because of the DSHEA (Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994), they don't legally have to test their products and if they do, they don't have to show us any of that information until the government forces them to.

Suing for under $3M? That's a lot of burgers this fatty'll be chewin' if she wins! Knowing how pathetic our country has become with an over-population of attorneys and an under-population of people who actually take responsibility for anything, she'll win. Good for her. We have terminal cancer. Pull the plug.

When are people gonna realize that a) the only sure, safe way to lose weight is to exercise regularly and not eat crap, and b) not everyone is meant to be a size 2? It's so simple, yet all these snake oil salesmen are getting rich off marketing "magic pills" to the lazy and/or ignorant.

citrus aurantium: this is "bitter orange", and if you check that out, you realize the use of it, just like the use of ephedra, which it often replaces, should require the use of warnings, so that the effects don't cause problems with some people. When you raise blood pressure, increase heart rate and increase blood pressure, you'd better know YOUR safe dosage range and know if you should be taking that product or not.

There will always be a bodybuilding product company there to sell gullible lazy morons something overly expensive. I'll sell you a vial of sea slug vomit that will make you gain 150 pounds of muscle in three days and make all the women take all their clothes off as soon as they see you. Price: $8500.00/drop. No guarantees, no returns, no office, no one else is as stupid is you.

diet pills are purely a control for people to lazy to exercise.they all have some form of lethal ingredient.anything that speeds up your metabolism is not good for the heart and other things.you might as well do coke if your gonna take a pill at least you get a high off the coke and still lose just as much weight.

there was an issue not long ago with ephedra killing baseball and football stars as well as a 21 yr old healthy man in the NJ state troopers academy that took an "energy booster" and died because it increased his heart rate so much as a previous poster stated citrus aurantium has replaced the very dangerous ephedra but is no safer by any means.hopefully not losing weight is the only side effect felt by these woman unlike the phen fen craze.

I'm going to fight the flow here and say that they should have never taken ephedra off the market. The problem isn't whether it was safe or not, the problem is with the dosage. There was never any confusion over what it did to you. Ephedra/ephedrine is powerful in small doses, but if you don't know what it does and it's mixed into some diet product that doesn't tell you, and if you have a fragile circulatory system or heart problem, it could cause problems, ESPECIALLY if you are one of the idiot young male bodybuilding freaks who always goes for MORE MORE MORE of everything and is just a fool who doesn't check out what's going into your body.

Ahh when are people going to learn that popping a little pill isn't going to do anything but screw up your body. My father is one of the victims of the phen-fen diet pill craze. His doctor gave him 2-5 years to live back in 1990. He is still hanging on but has been home-bound since then, and more recently bed-ridden because his pulmonary system was completely destroyed by that "miracle" pill. Try some diet and exercise before you put foreign chemicals into your body. And shame on Jillian Michaels for putting her name on such a poisonous product.
