Corey Haim -- Vicodin, Valium, Soma Found

3/11/2010 3:50 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Corey HaimTMZ has learned the four pill bottles found in the apartment where Corey Haim collapsed yesterday included the generic versions of Vicodin and Valium ... and the same doctor prescribed all 4 powerful meds just days before Haim died.

Law enforcement sources tell us the pill bottles retrieved in the apartment of Haim's mother are hydrocodone (Vicodin), diazepam (Valium), haloperidol (an antipsychotic med) and Soma (a muscle relaxer).

We're told all four meds were prescribed by a prominent Los Angeles psychiatrist. Sources say all four meds were prescribed the same day -- several days before Haim died.

The L.A. County Coroner's Office would not comment on the specific meds found, nor would officials say how many pills -- if any -- were missing from the bottles.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe Haim died from an accidental overdose of meds, though nothing is final until the Coroner's toxicology reports are in.

There have been reports Haim admitted in the past to taking as many as 85 Valium pills a day.

Haim collapsed in his mother's apartment early yesterday and was pronounced dead 2 1/2 hours later.

Whamo

85 a day??? Does anyone out there know if that's even possible? I understand people build up a tolerance but 85..I find that hard to believe.

Before TMZ goes jumping to conclusions like they did Brittney let's see what the Autopsies report says

This would be a bit interesting if it happened in the late 80's/early 90's, but no one cared about him before he died; so why does everyone feel that it's so important now? He was an on again off again junkie/pill popper and it really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that he died in such a manner.

1. If you are a known drug addict (such as Corey Haim was) how does a doctor get around prescribing these pills to someone?

2. Is it a crime?

3. How does it get stopped or does it?

4. How many more Hollywood young celebrities have to die, before the law intervenes and starts holding these 'so-called' doctors accountable?

I hope one of these questions receives an answer.

Thank you,

TMZ.....why do you keep posting this pic where he looks so much older & ematiated, when clearly more recently he was on the um,'larger' side? And you have those pics to choose from as well..... Sure seems like his rather drastic at times weight gains/loss was very much related to his drug use.

This is so sad. I'm 39 and the Coreys were huge in my day. But if I take 1 prescription painkiller I'm loopy. 85 would have me in a coma.

He shoulda stuck to crystal methamphetamine. I have "a friend" whose been doing it for 11 years and is in fine shape. And as Andre Agassi said, it feels better than winning Wimbledon. Too bad CNN have to have their cr@p "Ice Storm" special to demonize it...

Flame on.

I agree with the previous comments regarding Hollywood Doctors, it's like what scripts do you need?

Once a known addict gets their hands on these types of medications, the prescribed dose will never be enough.

And if he really wants these drugs, he can buy them online without a prescription, he will just have to pay more.

I am not going to jump to conclusions and say that Corey Haim died of a drug overdose since the toxicology report on his body is not even out yet.

As broke as California is, wouldn't the better question be "Why aren't they yanking the licenses of these criminals who are forcing the state to prosecute them at taxpayer expense?"...
How many dead celebrities will it take before this state "gets it"?...
As a taxpayer, I want these criminals arrested and charged for abusing their positions by wantonly prescribing dangerous drugs in lethal combinations/doses...
I want their restitution to be equally as costly as their prosecution will be, so that others will think twice before handing out drugs like candy...
I want a stern message sent that this type of recklessness will not only cost them their licenses, but put them in jail as well...
I want their families to be able to sue these practitioners for "future potential earnings" of the one they've lost, as they sure didn't mind taking their fair share of their in exchange for drugs...I want these practitioners to be forever known as murderers, and be ostracized as such...
I want the issue of addiction to be taken seriously by those in Hollywood, and the fear of consequences to become a reality for those who are used to buying their way out of trouble...

You see, throughout his struggles, some of us were really pulling for Corey Haim...He suffered terribly from the affects of childhood sexual abuse, which ultimately led to his addiction...This self-serving prescriber of drugs didn't even care that he was feeding a known addict, he cared that he got money for doing so...
If Haim was ill with flu-like symptoms (Murphy), why didn't anyone insist on hospitalization?...Why was he prescribed pain meds for the flu?...Why weren't his addictions taken seriously by those whom he paid to look after his health?...
While I hold these celebs accountable for their behaviors, I firmly believe that each and every one of these quack providers should be held equally accountable for theirs...

I'm so sorry that the machine consumed Corey Haim...He fought it long and hard, but it finally wore him down and took him...
As a fan, I sincerely hope he's the last, but I know he's not...
Sad...

As a fellow Canadian I fell really bad that Cory did not get the help that he needed. But can you tell me HOW did he have the moneys for all these drugs. He did not work that much and why do all these Doctors grant them these prescriptions. Are there no morals or ethics in the California Medical system. Why is the government not looking at these guys more closely.....This is all getting out of hand.
