Sheridan: 'Housewives' Creator Attacked Me

4/5/2010 8:50 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Nicollette Sheridan has sued Marc Cherry, the creator of "Desperate Housewives," alleging he struck her across the head and face on the set, and after she complained he fired her.

In the legal papers, obtained by TMZ, Nicollette is suing for assault and battery, gender violence and wrongful termination.

Sheridan is suing for more than $20 million.

In the lawsuit, Sheridan claims Cherry created a hostile work environment from the get go, "behaving in an extremely abusive and aggressive manner toward the individuals who work on the show."

Sheridan says during the 5th season, Cherry put her in his crosshairs. She claims on September 24, 2008, he physically assaulted her after she questioned him about something in the script. According to the lawsuit, "Cherry took her aside and forcefully hit her with his hand across her face and head."

According to the suit, after the alleged incident, Cherry went to her trailer to "beg forgiveness."

Sheridan says she immediately reported the incident to ABC, but Cherry's aggressiveness only worsened and ABC failed to take action.

And get this ... The suit alleges when Cherry found out Teri Hatcher went above his head to complain about him, he said, "I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies."

And, she says, she was killed off the show unfairly.

UPDATE: ABC tells the L.A. Times "While we have yet to see the actual complaint, we investigated similar claims made by Ms. Sheridan last year and found them to be without merit."

This show is going to be dead pretty soon anyway. Teri Hatcher ought to step up to the plate and join the suit or at least corroborate it if she knows, saw, experienced ANY part of this. Don't let it go like you did the child abuse. Think of how many people he probably does this to. And if he is willing to manhandle some of the main "talent" he wouldn't think twice about a female gaffer, electrician or whatever!

WTF is her problem?

Why didn't she call the cops right away?

Liar liar panties on fire.
Isn't it strange how despite the fact that there are 1,000 security cameras covering EVERY INCH of the stages, sets, walkways, halls etc, that this assault was not caught on tape?
When women get older, they lose their minds. Sheridan is looking to steal money from ABC, Disney, Cherry and anyone unlucky enough to have worked with her no-talent ass.

It'll be interesting to see what Teri has to say.

Some of you folks are sick. Instead of feeling any sympathy for an alleged victim of violence, you make disgusting comments condemning her because you don't like her acting or a TV show. That's sick!

How would you feel if your mom, sister, girlfriend, aunt, or daughter were hit by her boss?

According to the report, Sheridan filed a complaint with ABC. That means that the violence has been DOCUMENTED.

Hell, she should have filed a criminal complaint.

Why don't you people read that

Gender violence?! Is it gender violence if a woman hits a man? If someone gets hit BECAUSE of their gender, that's different than being hit and happening to be a different gender.

And no, I don't think it's okay. But it is NOT gender violence.

I think I believe her. Here's why: I didn't really care that they killed her character off on the show, nor do I really miss her character all that much. But for all those commenting on the length of time it took, she reported it immediately, it just took this long for the lawsuit. Lawyers are terribly slow, and there might have been negotiations going on behind the scenes (in the effort to prevent a lawsuit) that fizzled, which would explain it being filed so late. I have seen him in interviews and thought he came off really pompous and on a huge ego trip. And everyone acted VERY strange about the circumstances surrounding her leaving the show. I always thought there was more to it.

Can\'t Say

I totally believe her. This is a hostile hostile set. The fish stinking from the head down analogy is entirely accurate. I played a character on this show for an extended number of episodes and was treated abominably from hello to goodbye. Two bright spots on the show were Teri Hatcher and Nicolette Sheridan. They carried themselves with a grace and dignity and both expressed such genuine sadness about aspects of the show. Luck to Nicolette with what looks to be an ugly fight. I'm rooting for you.

How do you know it wasn't? The tape belongs to ABC. How gullible can you be?

Re: "If someone gets hit BECAUSE of their gender, that's different than being hit and happening to be a different gender."

She was a woman he couldn't control, so he slapped her across the face and hit her on the head. Then he fired her. The old boys club in Hollywood doesn't do that to male actors. I hate to break this to you guys, but we live in a sexist country, and Hollywood is the most sexist industry of all.

Whether I believe her or not, I'm glad she's off the show. And I do indeed hope Terri Hatcher is next. She was "cute" the first season ONLY, then she became really annoying, and I'm sick to death of her antics and completely OVER her. C'mon Cherry, kill Susan off next! Despite what people think, the show WILL survive without them both.

I love how these liberals treat each other. Just like evil vicious little children.

Dear Dumb Shelly:
I know that there are no such tapes, videos or other recordings of this fabricated incident because they would be evidence of a crime, thus immediately turned over to police by studio security as required by law. No studio producer or VP or even Walt himself could prevent this from taking place.
In connection with her blackmail demands, her lawyers would of course have immediately served ABC with a demand for production of documents. Under the law, documents includes emails, videos, tapes, and ANY sort of evidence to substantiate her claim. No videos means she is a liar.
I do this for a living, so who's gullible now?
I forgive you, as you are likely another sad lonely fat old woman and mentally ill just like Shrewidan.
