USC Football 'Vacates' Nat'l Championship Win

6/10/2010 4:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The NCAA just blew up USC football's world by forcing the Trojans to vacate their victory in the '05 Orange Bowl ... a win that earned them the National Championship.

USC Football trojans reggie bush

This all comes after an NCAA investigation concluded Reggie Bush got improper benefits while at USC.

According to the NCAA findings Bush received a car, and his family received a house and other financial benefits.

In addition to the National Championship game, USC must also vacate its 12 victories from the '05 season -- Reggie's last before turning pro -- and the university is banned from bowl games for the next 2 seasons, and on probation for 4 years.

Fight on.

NOTE: The NCAA specifically uses the word "vacate" instead of forfeit because the Trojan's opponents in those games don't get the win.

who cares

This championship was already under protest. Auburn went undefeated in the SEC that season and didn't get a chance to play for the National Championship. So congrats to Auburn Tigers on their 2004 National Chapionship, you guys deserve it.

The NCAA is full of crap. They waited until Pete Carroll left USC to impose these sanctions? It looks like they decided to profit from their cut of the successes that USC had during the last decade before getting off the gravy train. Now that USC won't be the powerhouse that it was during the past ten years, the NCAA has decided to take the high road and show collegiate sports "how serious" it is about schools following its strict code of conduct.
All of this is nothing but a big pile of smelly Bull S#!t. The NCAA makes loads of money from the talent that all its young players bring to their organization. Now that there is no Reggie Bush, no Matt Leinart, no Mark Sanchez, and no Pete Carroll, now its a good time to punish USC for all of their infractions. But, no problem these so called sanctions will be history in two more years; by then USC could find a new Coach and a new roster of great players to bring in more money to the NCAA.
The NCAA can take all of their so called sanctions and shove 'em up their rare.

This is the most stupid "punishment"! The people at USC who violated the rules by giving Bush the car, house, and other financial benefits are the ones who should be punished. If Regie was in the wrong fine him. But there is NOTHING gained by punishing the current students who weren't even attending the school at the time. In addition, the Championship & the Heisman are earned by playing well. The financial benefits did NOT in any way enhance Regie's or the team's performance. Not to mention it was five years ago! I say let them keep their wins and allow them to play in the bowls...but, put them on probation and fine the mess out of the school & those involved in the scam.

FINALLY !!! It's about time they nailed those cheaters. Should
have been the death penalty because they are repeat violators and they didn't cooperate with the investigation. Fight on, University of Spoiled Children.

Seriously?

This is why Pete Carroll quit...he knew this was coming down, and had to get out and get a deal with the NFL because he knew he'd be sitting out of bowl games.

Interesting timing given that Big 12 is on the way and USC will (at long last) have to actually play against (gasp) some good teams. I guess they still think they hold half of the 2003 championship title as well. BCS is all that counts biatches!
Meanwhile a "shocked and disappointed" Pete Carroll enjoys a free maple bar or two...

A few things need to be corrected here...
1. They did win the 2004 title even the game was played Jan 2005, they are known as the 2004 champs. My PSU Lions won the '05 Orange Bowl.
2. They have not vacayed the title....yet
3. Give it a rest Auburn fans. yes yuo guys went undefeated...but you were on probation at the time
