Lindsay Judge Ignored Psychiatrist Suggestions

8/1/2010 11:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

TMZ has learned Judge Marsha Revel ignored the advice of Lindsay Lohan's court appointed psychiatrists by ordering Lindsay to enter the Morningside rehab facility in Orange County.

Sources familair with the case tell us the two psychiatrists -- selected by Judge Revel -- recommended four facilities, including UCLA Medical Center. Morningside was not on the list.

We're told several medical experts informed the judge UCLA was particularly well-suited to handle Lindsay because she needs to be treated for psychiatric and substance abuse issues -- both specialties at UCLA. Medical experts told the judge they could tailor a program at UCLA that could be especially effective -- but the judge would have none of it.

But we're told the judge rejected their recommendation and instead heeded the advise of a probation officer who favored the Morningside facility headquartered in Newport Beach. As we first reported, Lindsay will be at a satellite compound in nearby Costa Mesa.

Sources say David Gates, COO of Morningside Recovery, made a push to get Lindsay as a patient by assuring the judge he would actually be tougher on Lindsay than the average patient ... by cutting off communication between Lindsay and the outside world.

Lindsay's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, declined to comment on this story.

I am wondering why ask the opinion of the experts and then go a different route. I don't think it wise to put her in the place with the people saying they will be harder on her & make sure no communication. That does not sound good to me. Sounds kind of scary.

Lindsey is not criminally insane. She is going to need as much "love" as she does strict rules.

But she does need to break off from the outside to get herself together. All those conflicting personalities giving her advise...Dina, Ali, Michael, Sam....etc....

She needs to feel a sense of contentment or serenity that she is getting help and is accomplishing her goal. I would assume, that actresses and some recording artists take on more or other personalities...to defend their selves... or what ever they need the other personality for....
a good example of that is Britney Spears... ( She is always gonna be a mess)
Good Luck Lindsey...I hope for you a " real " recovery... Perhaps.....saying goodbye to the fast, fatal "Hollywood" life would be a good start too....to save her life.

I hope her hungry parents will let her have a life free from all the nonsense.

Do these facilities have a "success rate " ?

Surely both facilities have to have reports on how good they are... the BBB...& I don't know where else you would get reports on the facility ...but I think that is what I would go by...

I think the court or the city has to pay for her care.

When a person is incarcerated the state picks up the tab. I heard of a guy got arrested so he could go and have an expensive heart surgery that he needed. They had to pick up the tab too because he was in jail. ha ha ha ha....

This girl is a dime-a-dozen hoodsie-rat, a complete waste.
Her whole existence is all about beating the obstacles in the way of her hellbent jollies -and always at the expense of others.
The family is so repulsive that Michael still comes off as the most human.

Here's a newsflash, the clinic in question is accredited by the same accreditation organization. They've had to meet the same criteria as the rejected clinics. The psychiatrist's involved may not have recommended the Morningside clinic simply because they do not have privileges there. Article states that this is her COURT APPOINTED psychiatrist, she likely has one on her own and he/she has said privileges. On the dark side, so what if the judge may get a kick back, don't you sometimes get a finder/referral pymt when you recommend a satellite carrier or other such service? And really, seeing as how well this whole celebrity justice is meted out, would you really be surprised if she did take a kick back?

This has FAIL written all over it.

"Sources say David Gates, COO of Morningside Recovery, made a push to get Lindsay as a patient by assuring the judge he would actually be tougher on Lindsay than the average patient ... by cutting off communication between Lindsay and the outside world."

So the CEO wanted her there for publicity or whatever and she will be treated more harshly than the others. What was the point of even asking the doctors when she ignored their advice.
Also the media are already setting up in newport beach and she is supposed to go the gym 4 times a week and the grocery store etc. So if this doesn't happen she will be treated even more differently than the other residents? No laptop or blackberry like the other residents either? After a month No weekend passes either or family dinners etc either?
This is the worse decision this judge ever made.

This judge has too much power and an agenda. Where are the checks and balances? Someone should examine this judge under a microscope and make her an example.

Anyone want to bet on how long LiLo will stay sober/drug free after she gets out of the rehab facility? 24 hours? The rehab won't help her cause she doesn't really want help; she's just an addict who's only real interest is drugs and alcohol.

Judge Marsha Revel is wrong for doing that, she has her own agenda!!! The rehab facility that Judge Marsha Revel choose will get free publicity and lots of money I;m sure Judge Marsha Revel will get 10%. So sad!!

If Lindsay is supposed to be treated "like everyone else", how is harsher treatment then the other patients going to help? Won't that make her resentful and less reluctant to want to participate? I'm not defending her. She did the crime, do the time. But being treated "like everyone else" is exactly how it should be. Stipulating "harsher treatment" up front sounds like a separate agenda, not designed with Lindsay's best interest at heart. This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Hello justice system -

Lindsay should have access to her laywer. Rehabs are dangerous because they often have counselors who have no doctors degree.

You can break a leg and expect that the person treating you down at the hospital has a medical degree. But when you suffer from either alcohol or drug addiction which are two registrered illnesses, the person in charge of your health doesn't need a high school degree in order to serve in this job.

On the internet there a lists of minors getting killed in what is called therapy but are really experiments involving human lives.

Treatment of minors are a killer because they opposite adult rehab cannot leave the program. But in this case Lindsay has no rights and then she must have access to the outside world. Can it no be her family, it should at least be her lawyer.

@Amtrak
I agree it isn't even about the facility as the judge picked that but what is the point if she is being treated differently. She should be treated exactly the same as everyone else.
I'm assuming the judge picked this place because of the rules, chores, roommates etc but if she isn't living like everyone else its pointless. Weres the incentive to follow the rules, cooperate for the full 3 months when either way you are cut off from the outside world.Jail is a threat but at least she would get time off
