'American Idol' Finalist -- Fury Over Hunting Show

8/3/2010 6:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Former "American Idol" finalist Kristy Lee Cook has landed right in the crosshairs of an animal rights group -- over a new reality show in which she's on the hunt for a record contract ... and animals to shoot.

While promoting her new reality/hunting show "Goin' Country," Cook -- who placed 7th on "Idol" in 2008 -- recently said, "I never used to like killing animals until I got out and experienced it.  It's the food chain.  Animals are here for us to eat."

Obviously, the statement didn't sit well with the group In Defense of Animals, who see things a little differently ... saying, "Contrary to Kristy Lee's beliefs, animals are meant to live out their lives in peace, not to be killed for our enjoyment."

So we gotta ask ...

We have come to expect the "food chain", "venison is healhier" arguments from the bimbos and a**holes who never learned about compassion or concern for anyone but themselves; their fund and pleasures and their own needs are all that matter in their world. These Troglodytes are still living in caves and are not likely emerge in this lifetime. So sad!
"It is clear that we have reached a time in the "evolution" of our species, where there exists a great divide between those with conscience, clarity and compassion and those who continue to dwell in the dark, dank caves of inhumanity, ignorance, cruelty and indifference. How much longer can we wait???"

Harassed by hunters

Hunting has become an excuse for trespassing, theft, stalking, peeking toms and any other miscreant behaviors.

Violence breeds violence and killing any sentient being [for the stupid among the readers meaning other beings who feel pain and suffering], is a passport toward further cruelty to the so-called higher species [us]. For those hunters among you who can actually read, take a look at "The American Hunting Myth" by Ron Baker. In the words of Mark Twain, "I have been studding the traits and dispositions of the 'lower animals' [so-called], and contrasting them with the traits and dispositions of man. I find the results humiliating to me. For it obliges me to .... to [espouse[ the theory ... to be named the 'Descent of Man from the Higher Animsla.'"

It is no longer about whether hunting is ok or not - it is about the lack of ethics in hunting today creating the battle. Hunting is NOT baiting animals, using primitive weapons that wound and lose 50% of hit animals, of limitless bag amounts, of using live animals as bait to train dogs (or hold contests with)... and it is NOT right that our state wildlife management increases harvest amounts to make money when hunting is on the decline and culling excess animals tears a community apart.

Until "hunting" becomes what it once was and ethics are more than a word thrown around, all "ethical" hunters better get on the stick and clean up their act. The "stick together for our rights" battlecry is what is taking hunting down as acceptable - not the anti-hunting groups. If you are an "ethical" hunter, you would be AGAINST hunting today - not defending it as it is today.

Hunting Lobbies are fighting battles that make this clear, and hunters allow it. Resisting eliminating lead ammo, fighting against a captive-hunting ban, fighting against banning barbaric traps on public land, fighting for purely sport bear hunts... This is why the reputation of "hunting" is tanking!!

Too many killers, not enough ethical hunters. Fix that, or stop blaming and trashing anti-hunting groups.

she is a very small town wanna be blonde bimbo-what scares me is putting a gun in her HANDS. It is a shame more animals are not doing the hunting and ridding the world of idiots like her. I do not condone hunting the way it is today, being part Cherokee I have a strong connection with nature, hunting is not a sport, the Indians hunted for survival, anyone that can kill for sport is someone who I prefer not to have in society.

Animals are creatures like you and me. They love, raise their young, feel pain, and they want desperately to live. Just because we are superior in our ability to kill, doesn't make it right to do so. In fact; Because we have superior knowledge, we should know better!

Those who hunt need to consider how the huntee feels. They apparently fail to realize that non-human animals also have feelings. They have families, children for whom they care very much. Just like human animals do. Those of us with personal experience of rescuing wild animals - wolves, coyotes, rabbits, fawns, raccoons and more, have personal experience of the depth of feeling these animals have. Once a person has had that experience, they cannot consider killing one of the wild creatures. We also realize there is a place in the environment for each creature and each is needed to fulfill the life of the planet.

Boooo. Real men and women don't feel the need to torture and murder innocent animals in their own habitat. Shame on you. Why don't you use your brain and discover the awesome world of veganism?

She's a terrible singer and a terrible person. Ugh! It's really a no-brainer, anyone with an ounce of sensitivity in their body knows how horrible killing is. And this redneck bitch enjoys it! SICK!!

Are you kidding me-hunting is killing-it's murder. The animal doesn't have a chance against a gun, bow, or packs of dogs-to me it's just an excuse to go out and hurt, maime and kill because people can-when a bear attacks a human we call that a savage attack when humans go out every week and kill things we call it a sport-PLEASE-just say you like to kill things that are defenseless against you and your gun, bow and pack of dogs-YOU LIKE THE POWER/because you are very small inside and haven't progressed
