JetBlue: Shame on Steven, No Matter What

8/12/2010 8:20 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The passenger who allegedly beaned JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater may have been a malicious, arrogant bitch, but Steven was still in the wrong ... this according to an internal airline memo obtained by TMZ.

JetBlue Steve Slater
As TMZ first reported, Slater is telling people the passenger "maliciously" struck him in the head by yanking on the overhead bin, cutting his head.

But, according to the JetBlue email, " ... if Mr. Slater’s story proves to be accurate, and even if there was a precipitating event that motivated his behavior, that still doesn’t excuse his actions."

The memo goes on, "There is no excuse for endangering Crewmembers and Customers in response to a challenging service situation. Intentionally arming and deploying an evacuation slide for anything other than the express purpose of protecting the safety of our Crew and Customers is unacceptable."

The memo adds, "Slides can be as dangerous as a gun ... It is an insult to all aviation professionals to have this particular element of the story treated without the seriousness it deserves."

Most of America doesn't see it Steven's way; just the loud mouths posting everywhere make it seem that way.

He could have followed procedure, the passenger could have been arrested for terrorists activity and he could have collected big time compensation from the airline and lawsuits against the b1tch who hurt him. I think there were other things going on for him to turn into a terrorist after the plane was at the gate.

Shame on him; if you want to make a point, think smart. Our system doesn't work when you endanger others!

The JetBlue flight attendant is now an American folk hero. He did what most of us have wanted to do from time to time throughout our lives -- but he did much nicer since no violence on his part was involved. Kudos to Mr. Steven Slater!

I'm reading reports that some of the other passengers are not supporting his story. Per some of the others on the plane, he had the laceration on his head before the incident. Another passenger has filed a complaint against him as being very rude before this all happened. I'm not a fan of JetBlue, but I want the whole story before making this guy a "hero"!

obviously he was in fear for his own safety and triggered the emergency slide for himself, for the crew and for other passengers in a flash of inspired bravery while nursing a bleeding head cut that concurrently traumatized him. then he nursed a brewskie. give the man a break...

Good for you Jet Blue,

Let's be clear, what this damn fool did was endanger the passengers, crew AND POTENTIALLY could have killed anyone on the ground when the chute deployed.

What he SHOULD have done, was report the misbehaving passenger to the Captain, and upon landing the unruly passenger would have been taken off the PLANE IN HANDCUFFS.

This guy is a nut case, does NOT deserve his job back, and should be jailed for reckless endangerment.....full stop, end of story.......him wanting his job back is LAUGHABLE at best....

GOOD RIDDANCE to him......

If that woman caused the injury to his head, sheshould be charged with battery and assault. My in-laws are like this as**** of a woman who go around doing nothing but complaining making everybody's service job miserable. The nurses are always b*tches, the doctor is an ASS0le, the cashier was rude, blaha blah, blah, blah............ Good for him, he should have socked her, too.

I see a couple of problems with this situation:

1) If this customer DID hit him, where is the scar? Why has the customer not been charged with a crime? I'm assuming there were witnesses to the alleged altercation.

2) If the customer had done something like this (deploying the slide) what kind of fines, prison time, backlash would they have suffered?

3) To throw a temper tantrum and not be in control of your emotions are not "hero" worshipping actions. If this is what we as Americans are calling heroic behavior we are in more of a crisis than I thought.

4) To me these actions are not the actions of an adult but a 2 year old who needs guidance - not my type of hero.

"Slides can be as dangerous as a gun." Really, Jet Blue? Really??? I don't see how that statement can be true.
