Paris' Boyfriend -- Cited for Hit-and-Run

9/30/2010 10:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Paris Hilton's boyfriend was cited for hit-and-run last night ... after he hit a photog with a Bentley and then just drove off.

Cy Waits hit and run.
It all went down as paparazzi swarmed the car as Paris and Cy Waits left Boa in West Hollywood.  The posse of paparazzi was all over the car, when suddenly Cy accelerated, knocking a photog down.

The couple took off after the hit and the photog called the cops. Paramedics were also called and took the female photog to a local hospital.

0930_paris_video_smallWe're told at some point later, Cy came back, sans Paris, and spoke with police.

Law enforcement sources tell us Cy was cited for hit-and-run, then allowed to leave.

And get this ... sources say Paris is saying, "The pap is making up injuries."

Law enforcement sources also tell us they're looking into all of the photogs, because flashing the lights could have blinded the driver ... which may constitute interfering with the operation of a motor vehicle --  which is also a crime.

UPDATE: Sources close to Cy tell us ... Waits is adamant that he was not cited for hit-and-run. Instead, Waits believes the photographer placed him under citizen's arrest -- and cops were obligated to sign the citizen's arrest form.

Sources also tell us Cy wasn't aware that he struck the photog until after he drove away ... but once he found out -- via text message -- he immediately called the police himself to follow up and eventually returned to the scene.

I think this photog lost his balance more than anything. When are they going to start cracking down on these guys. |Seems more and more are getting hurt and suing.

I saw the video clips over on Radar and frankly the whole thing disturbed me. Not because Cy hit the woman but because he was trying to drive (and had the right of way if the photographers weren't deliberately blocking him). You could see in the videos that he was inching his way forward but those people REFUSED to let them go.

Cy did lie saying he didn't know that he hit her since he backed the car up.

But if anyone watched the video over on Radar (at 4:25) can see another set of photographers stocking them even running a red light to stay on their tail! Wonder if that driver will be cited for running the red light?

If youre going to run out into the street at night in pitch black darkness you are taking a chance of someone not seeing you. You cant just do whatever you want and then blame others when somehting bad happens. STOP FOLLOWING THESE PEOPLE AROUND!

I don't know why the headline doesn't read "Cy-ted for hit and run" they ususally play with peoples names like that.

As much as I hate these two, there should be a law past that the paps cannot be in front of the car.

If the guy honked his horn, this means the vehicle is about to move forward ... get the hell out of the way of a moving vehicle.

Does a pap have to be killed or be in critical condition before a law is passed.

Paps should be forced to stay out of the path of a moving vehicle and should have to stand at least 3 feet away from the side and back of the vehicle at all times.

How is it a hit and run when you intentionally jump in the path of a moving car?
Paris should sue for damage to her car.

At what age do we learn to stay away from moving vehicles? These paps need to use common sense! Maybe next time she'll move when someone honks the horn!

#7. You cant just say that and leave it alone. They are on a date or whatever they were doing. They have the right to peacefully live their life and go about their business. They werent drunk driving or doing drugs (that anyone could prove anyway.) They have the right to be able to get inside of their car and drive away without being harrassed and worry if people are going to jump infront of them. There was a guy in south Florida (where I live) that just shot another driver after they were stopped at a red light and the "victim" got out of his car to argue about something. You cant infringe on other peoples rights and privacy and then put their picture on the front page and try to blame them. If I jumped infront of your car and you hit me; the cop would say "Well, why did you jump infront of the car?"

Man... I am in the wrong 'legal' business.... you mean all I have to do is completely annoy and stalk people oh and I forgot...stand RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR CAR to purposely get run over so I can speed dial my s***bag attorney to sue the people I am stalking!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And then get a settlement check from them...

hum...go straight to hell, or not.... go straight to hell, or not... what to do....

I've seen these vultures in action. Sitting outside a restaurant walking back and forth waiting for celebs to come out so they can shove cameras in their face. Some even call other paps to tip them off and share in the celeb feasting.

What I dont understand is that these cameras are huge! The lens are very powerful. Why do they have to get up in peoples faces when they can easily zoom in from a mile away and get a just as clear image?

Any idiot who jumps into the street for a cheap pic deserves to lose a limb, or two.

Wonder if any pap got a pic of the grease stain on the car.

Now the idiot can limp to go turn in his pics and collect his $2 prize
