Ricky Gervais -- I Will NOT Host the 'Globes' Again

1/18/2011 3:25 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Ricky Gervais doesn't care if he's ever asked back to host the Golden Globes"" ... because he's "not gonna do it again anyway."

A smiling Gervais was weathering the storm in New York this morning -- following his super-controversial statements at the awards show -- when Ricky told us, "I think twice is enough."

After the photog mentioned that Ricky's fellow comics seem to be standing by the performance -- Gervais replied, "Well, it's nice to be loved by your peers ... they stick by you."

For god's sake TMZ, learn how to use em dashes (—) instead of the ugly double hyphens (--).

He's just not funny, never was. His movies bomb for a reason. He's always doing the same shtick, same jokes, he's rude and pompous and he has no reason to be. You want intelligent humor? Eddie Izzard is funny - he's witty without being downright crass. We've seen other people host these awards shows before and thought they were very funny, and they kept is classy. Ricky has no class and he showed that the only way he knows how to be "funny" is to put people down. I'm glad someone on the show (Robert Downey Jr?) made a crack about him. And they DID pull him off the air for over an hour, though he's claiming that was "part of programming". Yea, right. He doesn't mind collecting the big, fat check he received for this gig, so he shouldn't mind being a bit more respectful of the people there. Hollywood is over-rated, true...but Ricky is part of it. So where does he get off acting like they're nothing, because he's nothing, too.

I turned the channel every time he came on after he made those few nasty digs. The only time I enjoyed the show was when they yanked him off.

Poor Ricky...he was a ***** cat compared to what Don Rickles would have said and done to the likes of Sheen, etc. : )

What if it had been Sarah Silverman? She's much harsher, they weren't complaining last time she hosted some other award's show. Maybe because he's not a Hollywood "insider" he's getting this huge backlash

He stunk and his type of 'humour'--sarcasm, cynicism, mean-spiritedness-has no place on a world-wide awards show. Showed no respect for the actors and their work or for the viewers who were looking for something other than a slummy club routine. Offensive and vulgar evening.

"I hope that you can learn the lesson and I try to understand that free speech is just for people who has some kind of dignity."

Well this sentence is not grammatically correct, but never mind, I am guessing that you are not an Australian or British. Poor petal. Free speech is for everyone darling. You would be utterly shocked at our comedians - no sacred cows here! Nor should there be! These celebrities are hypocrites of the worst kind. Nothing Ricky said was untrue. You also made some comments on Ricky's appearance. He often comments on his own appearance and he is fairly unkind to himself. Also, please stop using the "bullying" word, it's bull****! Celebrities spend their lives bossing people around, getting special treatment, breathing rarified air. Ricky took them down to everyone elses level. "Actors aren't like everyone else" Well yes they are! That was all he was trying to say and he said it very well!

Who cares. The guy used the same type of offensive humor last year and he didn't go any further than Russell Brand did at the MTV awards a few years back. I guess it's not kosher to pick on high profile celebrities, but they can go after political figures and youth celebrities all they want and no one makes such a fuss. Deniro threw a few zingers in his acceptance speech and I hear no one complaining.

Travolta, Cruise, Hanks, and that HFPA crank ensured he'd not be a host.

Funny how thin skinned these hypocrites are. They have said the worst things about our country, president and citizens and feel entitled. let Gervais nail them with the truth about themselves and they are like a grizzly on a jello mold....Right on Gervais!!!
