Former WWE Star -- Cleared to Kick Ass in Japan

1/31/2011 9:46 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Ex-WWE U.S. champion MVP -- previously barred from Japan because of his 9-year stint in U.S. federal prison -- has not only been given clearance to enter the country ... he just signed a deal to wrestle there.

Montel Vontavious Porter Japan
According to sources close to the wrestler, Montel Vontavious Porter -- real name Alvin Burke, Jr. -- inked the deal over the weekend to compete for New Japan Pro Wrestling ... a contract that involved TONS of red tape because of Burke's criminal past.

Burke -- who spent over nine years behind bars after being convicted of kidnapping and armed robbery when he was just 16 -- had to fight tooth and nail to get the requisite visa given Japan's anti-felon policy ... but was eventually successful.

We're told MVP will compete in Japan for at least a year -- and his first match is in February.

Let's see... Japan recently denied entry to Paris Hilton but yet this felonious ex-con gets to wrestle in Japan's New Pro Wrestling??? Can you spot the differences in this picture?!

@Ha-HA!!!!

Japan has strict anti-felon laws, but they are waived if you can show that you have reformed, and the company you intend to work for vouches for you, and agrees to be your "sponsor" meaning, if you **** up, it's their ass in a sling too. Paris Hilton has no social redeeming value other than she's famous because she's a rich spoiled brat. Plus, there's no guarantee that she's not gonna commit any more crimes, or shows any indication that she's reformed. MVP has not only reformed, he's turned his entire life around to become one of the world's best wrestlers. Good on him for doing that.

@ reply #2:

Japan banned Paris Hilton due to drugs. To Japan, drugs is one of the worst things someone can do. They feel really strongly about it. Marijuana can get you over three years in prison.

Anyway, MVP's past is completely behind him. He was given a second chance and he has taken advantage of that second chance to the fullest.

Great for him!! He wanted so badly to go to Japan and perform for New Japan, I am so glad he gets to live his dream.

There's a difference, MVP paid his debt and has turned his life around, Paris Hilton is still a whore.

OK. Firstly to all the haters and racists. STFU. The world doesn't need your hateful views. Its not about the race when Paris isn't allowed in and MVP is. Its to the fact that what he did was years ago and has paid his dues and changed his life and turned it around for the better and is a great wrestler and worker.
Paris is a spoiled rich brat would never spent anytime in jail for her rich daddy and still continues to do her crap so yeah I wouldn't want her in my Country (Canada) either for she still is a dope head.

Number 9 is a clear indication that some evolutionary paths are truly a dead end. The racist mind is one of them.

#5.. lol thats a mouthful and i think i'm a bit dumber for reading it, but um.. MVP's conviction was 21 years ago, Paris's conviction was a day prior. bit of a difference.

but yeah, as long as the celebrities retain a following they can commit serious crimes and stay in show biz. Just look at Chris Brown or Lindsay Lohan.

People make mistakes, unfortunately only few have to do time. I am a convicted felon, I disagree with the way I was convicted, but the point is, we do our time then get out and get dumped on by prospective employers. We did our time, get over it. No reason to keep discriminating. That causes the ex-con to get back into crime.
