Anderson Cooper

Attacked in Egypt

2/2/2011 11:15 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Anderson Cooper and his CNN news crew claim they were punched, kicked and shoved by a violent mob of pro-Mubarak supporters in Cairo early this morning.

Anderson Cooper Attacked
Cooper claims he and his team were trying to get to a spot in between the two sides of protesters in Tahrir Square -- when they were attacked.

Cooper claims the mob tried to break his team's camera -- because they didn't want to be on film --  when the violence escalated and men began to punch members of the news crew in the head.

0202_anderson_cooper_miniAnderson explained, "The instinct is try to punch back ... but in a situation like that you really can't because that just inflames the crowd all the more ... so all we could do is just try to walk as quickly as possible, stay together and seek a safe location which is where we are now."

And you expect WHAT to happen if you go into a mob of half a million protesters (??) Were they maybe thinking someone would be passing out cupcakes?

The things people will do to get a raise. Geez.

Is he that stupid? He should quit crying since nobody forced him to go in the middle of a mob! Now he is plying the sympathy card:(

Dear Anderson Cooper,

When you attempt to do***ent a peoples peaceful struggle with their government by placing yourself among them you are assaulting their rights. There people should not be violated by you, your camera nor your opinion that humanity deserves to witness political conflict.

You have disgraced your profession and you would prove your worth if you were to beg forgive from the people of Egypt. I am American citizen and I value the rights we have to privacy, rights you have stripped the people of Egypt from securing. I am ashamed to share citizenship with you, I will forever mention your injustices I have just watched.

Last night I was watching him on CNN there in Egypt and I kept thinking he doesn't even need to be there in the first place. Now look what's happened to him. They can report on Egypt from USA and not have to be in the middle of it all. Stupid Azz Cooper.

Bet he loved the attack. I remember how happy Dan Rather was to be shoved to the floor at the Democratic Convention. He had something to talk about for years

LOl.."peaceful protest"! I bet Cooper and the CNN people thought they would be treated like saviors since CNN is clearly on the side of the muslim radicals "peacefully" looting and rioting in the streets. Serves cooper right....

I'm not what he expected would happen, he wanted a story and now he has one. Keep out of their business, if they kill each other are we gonna care anymore?

Stupis is as stupid does. Like bringing a camera to a civil war. Like being a white westerner in a sea of M*slims. He's fortunate he's not dead. Not a very wise move.

I'd be scared too if I was an American in Egypt. The West supported this dictator. It is us who are the barbarians. Everyone deserves to live in dignity with a job, food to eat and human rights. This is a wake up call for North America.
