Cowboy Stadium Falling Ice

Five of the injured were transported to local hospitals, one of them being critical. We're told the other injured person was transported by private vehicle.

A rep for the NFL tells TMZ: "The ice and snow melting off of the Cowboys Stadium roof has caused several sliding snow falls onto the plazas. There have been several injuries. All stadium entrances have been closed except for the truck tunnel, which is away from the building by a very safe distance. All workers and visitors will now enter and exit through the tunnel until further notice."

Cowboys Stadium is in Arlington - NOT Dallas. Also, Arlington is not a suburb of Dallas or any other city.

Latest report is that one of the victims was a Getty photographer at the stadium to take snow related pictures. Broke his shoulder in three places and is heading back to the East Coast on Saturday for surgery. One person is still in the hospital in stable condition.
Make no mistake, this happening and being reported on a national level is making Jerry Jones change his undies...alot.
The week has gone from bad (with optimistic reports on Tuesday of "at least this will be gone by the end of the week) to worse--6 inches of snow fell last night in an area that doesn't own snow plows. And the original "it'll be sunny and in the 50's on Sunday" is now maybe it will make it to the 40's and there is a 30% chance of precip, sleet or rain". So all those people who have paid 100's of dollars to watch the game from the parking lot...good luck! And heads up for falling ice!

Dallas is NOT typically like this! Last weekend, it was near 80 degrees. This is just a freakish winter storm and the the city of Dallas hasn't had anything like this happen in 25 years. There is no reason for anyone to have assumed that Florida, California or any other state down south would have been a better option. Dallas is a great place and this would have been an awesome Super Bowl week had it been ANY other year!

Hopefully, all of the injured heal up.

As for the ice falling off the roof...the Metrodome thinks that's impressive. At least there the snow fell when no one was inside.

Since when is the stadium in Dallas? The stadium last time I saw it was near Collins St. in ARLINGTON. Well at least Dallas is getting the bad press, and not Arlington! LOL! Arlington also has a major league baseball stadium within walking distance of the Cowboy's Stadium. Dallas did not want their taxpayers to help pay for a stadium so they lost it. Dallas does not support the Cowboys. I think the word Dallas should be dropped from any reference to the Cowboys unless an event is really in DALLAS. Also, Fort Worth is hosting a ton of events. Fort Worth is an awesome city and people not from TEXAS ignore the rich sight seeing, and cultural events that Fort Worth also offers. Just wish the reporter would get the city right!

Who was the architect for this, George Costanza? No provision for snow and ice on the slanty round roof and how it might come down? fail.

The stuff that fell on people was not just snow, it was mostly ice. We have been stuck inside because we got about 3-4" of ice Tuesday morning, temperatures stayed around 20*f through Thursday. Friday there was a snow fall, ac***ulating about 5 or 6 inches around Arlington. This is not usual weather for the area. The Stadium is in ARLINGTON not DALLAS. Dallas was too afraid to raise taxes to support a stadium. Arlington citizens voted in favor of taxes to support the stadium. (Much more forward thinking people in Arlington than in Dallas.) Dallas is hosting some celebrity parties. Fort Worth is hosting a lot of events too. This is not a one city celebration. We hate it that this weather happened. Driving safely on ice is near impossible.

Angel,
your rantings will not stop people from going to those establishments. In fact, it might just do the opposite, people like to see things that are controversial. Your bigoted remarks about Latino and African American people do not give you any credibility. I only read one of your posts because it was so vitriolic I couldn't help myself. Shame. And I am proud to live in Arlington, It's between Dallas and Fort Worth, and has excellent dining, and entertainment.

WRONG about the ppl wanting the stadium in Arlington The city of Arlington enforced emanate domain and forced the sale of boatloads of houses to build the death star as we call it in this area. I can see it from my front yard. Someone told me a few weeks ago that we are portrayed in the media as loving Jerry Jones. Let me straighten you out. We LOVED Tom Landry. Tom Landry was the MAN. We HATE Jerry Jones and his land raping, electric stealing, cheap ass face lifting smiling self.
