Elizabeth Taylor

The $11,000 Casket

3/25/2011 8:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Elizabeth Taylor enjoyed the finest things in life ... and she will in death ... because TMZ has learned she was buried in an $11,000 casket.

We're told the casket is a top of the line, traditional Jewish casket -- built entirely out of wood using a special glue ... no nails whatsoever.

According to sources,  the casket is made out of mahogany -- lined in red velvet with a matching red pillow.

Hopefully, it's comfortable.

it doesn't matter how much or how little the casket cost and if you at tmz think she is comfortable in it. she is gone know and her body is an empty shell but she is in a better place know where people like you cant talk about her like a couple of old ladies anyway she will be missed by her fans and relatives which her memory will live on through them like my moms memory lives in me after she passed away from cancer last year . ps i love you mom and ill never forget you patsy lewis

People of the Jewish faith are always buried the next day.

TMZ stop with the tacky stories.

Idiots at TMZ- where the average employee age appears to be around 25.

News Flash: Funeral expenses are outrageous for everyone, rich or poor. Didja ever wonder why cremation and scattering of ashes has become so popular?

LEAVE LIZ ALONE!

I hope her children don't start fighting over her estate. She would not want that. Different point - what came as a surprise to me years ago was to find out how small she was - about 5'1". Little lady.

$100,000 would be a story. $11,000 isn't that outrageous.

Now this is one chick I would have loved to meet. She lived life to the fullest; she was a successful business woman; worth millions of dollars, jewels worth even more millions, and you never heard anything about her children; she definitely did it her way. I would have loved to have heard that conversation between her and Debbie Reynolds on that boat. What do you say to a friend after you stole her husband? To sit down to dinner and talk about that stuff...face to face. You gotta have alot of nerve. Wow!

Eva, after they were both through with him and realized he wasn't worth the energy, they got over him. They made their peace years ago and I, for one, am glad they did. They were friends before him and found their friendship again after him.

I think all caskets these days are at least $5,000. It's ridiculous.

Paraphrasing a famous Jew, in Psalms 104, David said our thoughts perish, our breath goes forth and we return to the dust. Does anyone believe an $11,000 casket makes her comfortable or detours decomposing flesh? Remember, Ezekiel's Dry Bones Prophecy foretold Israel's return to life, only we know that sooner or later they, as well as Elizabeth Taylor will face judgement by he whom they rejected, their Messiah.
