'Make-A-Wish' Kid -- Focused On The Dolphins

3/28/2011 5:40 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The Make-A-Wish kid snubbed by celeb chef Ina Garten has MOVED ON -- in fact, we're told, Enzo is so excited about his back-up wish to swim with dolphins ... he sleeps in his bathing suit.

A family member tells TMZ, 6-year-old Enzo -- who suffers from leukemia -- has conquered his initial disappointment and is now focusing on his upcoming swim sesh with real-life dolphins.

We're told Enzo not only sleeps in his bathing suit -- but when he's awake, he spends a huge chunk of his free time learning to swim ... all to make his new wish a reality.

TMZ previously reported, Ina has officially REVERSED her refusal to see the kid ... after twice denying his request for a meet-up -- claiming she plans to call him today.

As of the time this story was published, Enzo's family had not heard anything from Ina.

Frankly, I cannot believe the nasty statements being made toward Ina. If anyone would stop and use their brains for one minute, they would understand that it's the MOTHER that wants to meet the MIDDLE AGED woman not a little boy. He wants to play with the dolphins. This mother should be ashamed of herself.

Ina Garten is another one of my jewish friends who was ashamed of her jewish given name and changed it to sound more Christian like in order to be successful in business, just like her good pal, Ralph Lif****z, I mean Ralph Lauren.

The Mom is just milking the pity party for donations. THE KID NEVER WANTED TO MEET INA GARTEN....if they went through with it, the mother's fraud would be exposed when the kid shows no interest in her.

I used to work for MAW...Ina has previously granted wishes for kids that wanted to meet her. Sometimes it doesn't work out...for scheduling or whatever reason. That's why the kids are asked for a "back up" wish. On a side note...if he meets Ina thru MAW...he only gets 1 wish, so he would not be able to go swim with the dolphins too.

Good choice, kid, you can't mount and ride the big whale named Ina the same way you can a Dolphin.

Enzo - cute
Dolphin - cute
Ida - not so cute

Ina may still have a chance if little Enzo decides he wants to swim with the sea cows.

Those dolphins could teach her a thing or 2. They're out there serving people every damn day.

Whoever suggested letting Enzo ride Ina - excellent idea.

it was said Enzo has to have lessons to swim and was worried about swimming with the dolphins so who put that out there as an option for him?

C.untrygirl is on a mission. She doesn't want any sick children to Make A Wish. She wants them all to suffer. It must be their fault their sick. That's why she named herself C.untrygirl. C.untrygirl is a big (fill in the blank).

silly me, see i thought that Garten was Jeffrey's last name, and the name that Ina took when they married some 40 years ago. so Garten is not her given name, but her married name. and really, who the hell cares anyway?

Where's kooky - thank you for your thoughtful and thought out response. I know it's just human emotion that makes people respond to enzo's plight. But there are facts to consider and it really just feels like a jerry springer moment. Look at the majority of the comments - it is exactly Jerry Springer with each person trying to sound funnier or more hurtful than the last.

You really get the feeling that people are just responding, they are not reading. Both sides of this issue.

Yet we have had posts from people who worked at MAW, journalists, people with the exact same kind of disease, etc. All of them have interesting points.

Why are we so quick to criticize, crucify? And where is the response from the family?

Look, I don't even own an Ina cookbook. I watch her on tv sometimes and I think she is very good. Heck, I might even buy one of her books because I take pity on someone being so viciously attacked.

Let's focus on hoping this boy has a speedy recovery and a long and happy life with his family. That's the important goal here.
