Gay Rights Groups to Morgan

We DEMAND Apology

6/10/2011 7:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The largest gay rights groups in the country are condemning Tracy Morgan's homophobic stand-up act in Nashville ... insisting, "anti-gay violence is not something to joke about."

0610_hr_glaad_tracy_EX2

TMZ spoke with Jarrett Barrios -- the President of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation -- who tells us the organization is investigating the situation, and if the reports are true, "We call on him to remove these violently anti-gay remarks from his show and send a strong message that anti-gay violence is not something to joke about."

The Human Rights Campaign is equally upset -- telling us, "Hateful remarks that mock youth suicides and the very real emotional and sometimes physical bullying LGBT kids face on a daily basis have no place in a comedy routine.”

The group adds, "If these allegations are true, Tracy Morgan must immediately accept responsibility and apologize.”

I don't like Tracy Morgan, but he absolutely shouldn't apologize for his remarks unless *he* feels he crossed the line. Really, I think he ought to lay into the over-sensitive dumb ducks at GLAAD who are demanding the apology.

What a bunch of nitwits. I have nothing against GLAAD, only the idiots there who think that it's acceptable to demand an apology for something that falls well under free speech.

demanding an appology is the stupidest thing i have heard of. if the person isn't sorry then its just empty words.

clearly tracy morgan doesn't feel bad for what he believes, he has voiced his opinion a number of times.
i do not understand what good an apology would do...

tracy morgan is a giant douche bag.

Yes it's true, the guys an a-hole, but if he apologizes because an offended group of people demand it, I'll think he's a bigger wuss than I already do. He's a "*cough*cough*" comedian, his shows are raunchy, rude and full of insulting comments, if you don't like his words..........don't listen.

Jeez....getting to the point where the only words left in ourvocabulary will be "Hi" and "Bye".....oh, wait....the Narc Annonymous people will say "hi" is the shortened version of "high" and that insults them because they're trying to keep off drugs.
AND..."bye" SOUNDS exactly the same as "bi" so the "bi"sexuals will consider it a slander towards them.

Our society NOW has to adapt the "click" language of the Bushmen in Africa.....oh, wait!! "Pens" will be up in arms.....

Okay GLAAD. Please apologize to all the families and friends of the 95% global Straight community for knowingly advancing AIDS.

If you force someone to apologize then it isn't really a sincere apology, is it?

uh, yea, he has the right to voice his opinions as much as he wants, freedom of speech, you may not like it, but he owes no one form GLAAD or human rights of anyone any apology for speaking freely. Deal with it.

I came out of homosexuality and have settled into my true heterosexual identity.
Facing my demons and coming to terms with the unresolved issues that led me into homosexual addiction was painful but the freedom I have now in Christ is worth it.
I do understand the torment and confusion of people with unhealthy same sex attraction, but at some point You have to claim responsibilty for Your own behavior and examine Your motives.
Just because the gay activists control much of the media doesn't mean We live in enlightened times.
Asa matter of fact their agenda is very harmful for society as a whole.
No one should attack people in homosexuality. It hurts to be gay.Not fun. You're isolated emotionally so have to give people hope.
It's just aggravating when a fascist group like Gladd takes away people's right to choose to change as they did recently with the ex gay app that they made Microsoft remove.
Diversity ?I don't think so.Pretty much an aggressive one sided agenda

I think what is so discusting about this is that he said he would kill his son if he acted gay. We have all been called names, but he does have a responsibility at a public figure, and he must expect a backlash if he says things like that, any celebrity does. If he had said this about another group, for example, Asians, Native Americans, Hispanics, like some other people have, he would be fired. Say the N word and people protest outside your house, but threaten to kill your son if he acts gay, and you all defend his free speech? There is something wrong there. Why is there a double standard? Inapproapriate and irresponsible is what it is, yes please let's call a spade a spade.

Hate speech is not free speech. Teaching children that it's okay to bring violence on someone because of their sexuality or race i*****e speech and shoot be stomped on! Let this ghetto trash get fired from his gigs. BET will take him, I'm sure.

I am so tired of people whining about being gay. I hope he stands behind his jokes, and doesn't wimp out and apologize. He has the right to beleive whatever he chooses and say whatever he chooses. These gay organizations need to back off and let people be.
