Mel Gibson Sued In Recycled Rubber Dispute

6/15/2011 2:53 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Mel Gibson is being sued by a man who claims Mel cajoled him to put his life savings in a newfangled technology to recycle tires ... the guy lost it all and now claims Mel is swindling him.

Nader Sherif met Mel at a dinner party in 2007.  According to the lawsuit, Nader claims Mel started jawboning him about a Malaysian company called Green Rubber, which developed a technology to devulcanize rubber so old tires could be recycled.

Sherif claims Mel tried convincing him to invest $200,000 in the company -- his entire life savings.  Sherif says he was resistant, but someone from the company who was present at the dinner assured him the company would re-purchase Sherif's stock for the full face value whenever Sherif wanted.

But Sherif was still uneasy, telling Mel he had just had a child and could not afford to lose money. Sherif alleges Mel -- who is a "significant investor" in the company --  then told him if the company wouldn't make good, Mel would buy the shares from Sherif for the full $200,000.

Short story -- Sherif was going through hard financial times and wanted Green Rubber to buy his stock back.  Sherif claims the company repeatedly refused to do so, and he then went to Mel, who allegedly ignored his demand.

Sherif is suing for $200,000 plus interest. We could not reach Mel's rep for comment.

So what do we have here? Smear campaign number 12 gazillion against Mel Gibson. "Mel Gibson gave me bad investment advice seconds before he smacked his extortionist for shaking their baby and several minutes before he used some bad words!"

Let's string him up!!!

Curious

Did a google on Costa Rica real estate. Some of the articles are all "Decline? No, no, no, there's no decline - come and buy property!" But when one looks at the blogs from actual real estate investors and the current economic state of Costa Rica - including their ongoing battle with Nicaragua and the local effect of Costa Rica's international free trade agreement (CAFTA)- the luxury property business isn't doing too well.

On the other hand, Green Rubber appears to be quite well. The patented "DeLink" process is being used in a few different countries and looks to expand globally.

I'd say this Nader person is full of bovine ka-ka.

What You Really Want To See

Demanding a jury trial? Working on the basis that enough people hate Mel enough to award any dumb jerk a pile of cash.

Judge to throw out October 3rd.

If you google BRUCE WILLIS SUES GREEN RUBBER, there an article on REUTERS that confirms Willis' lawsuit....something about the failure of the company offering an IPO. If this guy has the same claim, he very well may win (but I dont think he can sue Gibson - the company yes - Gibson no?).

Al Gore and Bruce Davey are both investors, I wonder if THEY tried to take their money out. Did Mel pull his financial backing?

@Chris - If Al Gore is involved that's a good indication you are being scammed out of your hard earned dollars. He's a bloated, greedy douchebag riding the Green Train.

It took a lot of effort to make your lies appear real, but God helped me. He withstood, you are in his eyes a pile of geek. Puss. Nuisance. ****. Hurts, I know, but that is the truth.

This guy violated EVERY rule of investing and if I were TMZ, I'd be ashamed of running this story. IMO, they're trying to deflect away from the ex NFL'r who spoke the truth for once!

An IPO is "Initial Public Offer", it's what the cost of a stock would be when a company goes on a public exchange.

The date for Bruce Wllis's suit was 2008. Recall the global financial meltdown. It would seem Green Rubber had intended to go public, but the global crash hit everyone. They have since announced a flotation on the London stock exchange and have been featured on Asian Dragons Rising.

Green investments are always risky. People get all enthusiastic about green energy when the oil prices go up, but soon forget about it. Easier to just bitch about the cost than actually do anything about it.
