Tracy Morgan

'Hey, Homeless

Gay Teens ...'

6/17/2011 2:30 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Tracy Morgan put on his serious face today in NY -- to meet with some homeless gay teens and victims of anti-gay violence -- in an effort to educate himself after his recent homophobic comedy act.

During the meeting -- organized by GLAAD -- Morgan spoke with two young gay people, Jayden Love and Raciel Castillo (pictured above, to the right of Morgan), who were forced to live on the streets after they were shunned by their families.

Afterward, Jayden and Raciel said, "We really appreciate that we were able to meet with Tracy Morgan ... We hope that our stories have the power to change not only Tracy's perspective, but those of any parent who may be struggling with accepting their child."

Tracy plans to go to Tennessee next week (the site of his homophobic performance) to apologize to the people he offended and to meet with the Tennessee Equality Project and local advocates.

used to be a man could state his opinion, however ugly, if you didn't like the message, you left. nowadays those demanding tolerance are the least tolerant of all and we've all become PC slaves. i'm offended, no one is groveling to understand my life. it's hard for everyone, get over it.

Hmmm. That should read:

"I don't know that his abrupt mea culpa is born of a genuine sense of remorse and recognition of the error of his ways, more than it is likely contrition from an actor who has had his knuckles rapped by his boss, Tina Fey.

Yeah, and it used to be that a white man could kill a black man for sleeping with a white woman, and get off scot free.

Times, they are a changin' .

the pusification of america continues unabated. what jokes do gay people laugh at? and at who's expense? tracy's not the problem... hes a comedian. the real issue (and not a new one), is that low life "parents" would throw their own child into the street for being gay. lets interview them... lets attempt to destroy them...they're the problem... they deserve it. tracy tells jokes.

This is a transparent PR stunt and unlikely to impress anyone. To you jerks who think it's "American" to bash gays, get back under your rock.

There must be a long line of people waiting at the door of this place just waiting to apologize for all the bad jokes and stuff that's ever been said. This is a photo opp and nothing else. Good job GLAAD. Anything to get your message out there. And as for Tracy. You folded like a cheap camara.

Ok look. Here's what I want to know. Is Tracy honestly homophobic or was it just bad comedy? Because if it's the latter I don't think he should be doing this sh**. Many comics have said offensive things about women, gays, and other minorities... Why should Tracy alone have to endure "sensitivity training"?

Tracy Morgan ... a guy with an androgenous name who acts weird over funny most of the time on 30 Rock. So he looks like he fits right in with this queer group.

I'm confused as to how gays wanting equlity equals "forcing" their lifestyle on a person? Are you going to all of a sudden become gay? Are you going to start dressing ike a chick? Are you going to TIVO Glee? I mean, I don't get it. If anything, the reverse is true. By not letting gay folk have the same rights as the rest of us, we're forcing our lifestyle on them. "Just act like us and you'll be ok."

And I agree that Mr. Morgan seems to have really taken this experience to heart. Instead of the normal rehab route or the one giant, publicity-seeking appearance or "IF I offended you..." apology, it seems like he's legitimately making an effort to understand why his words were hurtful and to make ammends for them. I find it quite refreshing and good for him.
