Coroner: Ryan Dunn Died Violent Death

6/21/2011 10:40 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn and his passenger each died as result of both blunt force trauma AND the fire that consumed Dunn's Porsche during the crash Monday morning ... this according to the Chester County Coroner.

Ryan Dunn Cause of Death

The Coroner's Office just released the autopsy results for both men -- who, we're told, were each dead by the time officials arrived at the scene.

Based on the autopsy results, the crash was so violent, it seems it was impossible to determine if the two died from the impact of the crash itself or from the fire that resulted.

Officials say the toxicology results for both men -- which would help determine the role alcohol played in the crash -- will be released in 4 to 6 weeks.

TMZ previously reported, officials believe Dunn's car veered off the highway and crashed in a wooded area Monday morning ... before exploding in flames. Investigators believe speed may have been a factor in the crash.

I am glad this time they only took themselves out and not some innocent person or family as has been the case lately in SoCal. Hopefully more drunk drivers take themselves out and not be the cause of someone losing their best friend, parent, sibling, etc.

Why is everyone focusing on drinking, and not the news put out by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Porsche is RECALLING about 1,700 of its most powerful 911s because wheel hubs may wear prematurely, resulting in a compromised wheel-retention system that could lead to a CRASH.

@ Tommy its basically the same in USA. 2 pints of beer is about a .08 for a 160... lb man. Your BAC (blood alcohol content) when blowing into a PBT (breathalyzer) will intially be very high cause alot of what it is getting is the alcohol in your mouth. Thats why police will waiting and do a scond one an hour later. That way they get what is called (Deep lung air) and get a more accurate reading. If you refuse a PBT these in many states they can get a search warrant and have blood forcefully withdrawn and then they simply calculate how much alcohol your body has oxidized by the hour and your weight ratio (so the criminal really doesnt get away with it by refusing.) So if I was to do 3 shots right in a row? My PBT test would show VERY high, then it would drop within a half hour, then it would actually rise again while my body catches up with to start oxidizing, then lower once again. I learned these things the hard way by getting what in my state they call "The Super Drunk Law" for if you blow over a .17 which is for me was like 8 beers in 2 and a half hours. So my 1 DUI was treated with the penalty of 2. BOTTOM LINE IS: Its not smart to game around really with any amount of alcohol and drive and try to math it out in your head if you are 'legal'

Porsche wasn't pushing the gas pedal and Porsche didn't make him drink, drive and drive irresponsibly.

"Violent death." How sensationalisti****m... is there a car crash that is not violent? Any journalism degrees out there? As for the fire, as a former first responder to such things, I can assure you the guy died of blunt force, instantly, and was not alive at the time of getting crispy.

Um Larry, because he was posting party pics of him guzzling alcohol right before the crash and the cops said the speedometer was at 110 when they crashed. Who cares about the Porsche problem. If he was going the speed limit and not drinking he could have stopped if anything happened.

Dunn was clearly trying to make the off-ramp exit but was just going to fast. I'm sure the booze didn't help either, but check out that video from yesterday and look at the tire tracks.

Just saying, what if the wheel did fall off the car as a result of a compromised wheel-retention system, and caused the crash, and not the drinking?

Porsches are notorious for swerving out of control since all the weight is in the back of the car. Whether he was drunk or not, the car was unbalanced by something he did and was unrecoverable. I don't even think they should sell them to the general public

Would it have made sense for someone to take his keys from him, yeah, I suppose so. What should have happened is the guy should never had taken a drink if he knew he was planning on driving. Period. This guy no doubt had enough money to take a taxi if he knew he was going to get plastered. He was an idiot, plain and simple and he paid the price for it.

Zach Hartwell got in the car willingly, Dunn didn't drag him in and Hartwell knew he had been drinking so if you are blaming Dunn, you have to blame Hartwell aswell.
It was a terrible accident and the world has lost a sweet, amazing, talented person.
show some respect you *****.

Drinking and then driving is dumb. Doesnt matter how little you had to drink, you still had a drink.

When are people going to finally get it?
