Charlie Harper

Dies Tragic Death

6/27/2011 1:17 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Two and a Half Men" will turn dark for just a minute or two when it premieres in September ... because Alan and Jake will learn Charlie Harper bit the dust.

Sources connected with the show tell TMZ ... Chuck Lorre's plan is to make sure Charlie Sheen can NEVER come back on the show.  Although the first show won't be filmed until August 5, producers have been kicking around scenarios, which include Charlie driving a car over a cliff.

Of course, it would be art imitating life, because two of Charlie Sheen's cars went down a cliff on Mulholland Drive.

As for how Ashton Kutcher enters the picture, there's been talk that he buys Charlie's house after Charlie kicks the bucket.

Sources tell us ... the first script still isn't locked and Lorre often makes changes until close to taping, but it's pretty clear -- Charlie Harper is pushin' up daisies.

Jenna, you're thinking of comic books where they bring characters back from the dead. And television shows where they liked the actor that played the character.

As for Chuck Lorre being grumpy about Charlie getting a new show, I suspect he's thinking along the lines of "Now they can deal with that @$^#%!". Remember, Lorre has at least two other shows if Two and a Half men falls through. The only thing he's lost is a headache.

Don't Chuck Lorre know that without Charlie there is no show..I will no longer be watching Two and a Half Men.

That is uncalled for. There is NO WAY to make that funny. They need to grow the hell up over there. Charlie Sheen is gone. If they want us to believe them and not Charlie then they need to STOP acting like they are 6years old.

Who cares nobody is going to watch this show without Sheen anyways. The other 2 + the manboy will not be able to carry the show at all, it was getting corny enough already with the jokes with a 17yo kid now.

Gee Mr. Lorre, bitter much?

Chuck Lorre reminds me of Mr. Rooney in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. At the end of the movie Mr. Rooney is still fighting with the students and drags himself on the bus totally defeated. Chuck Lorre - losing an audience and a program. Charlie Sheen - WINNING!!!!

How much you want to bet they don't kill him off in the first episode but drag it out for ratings? Because they know the show is going to tank as soon as the mystery about Charlie's exit is revealed.

Jon and Angus better be saving ever penny they can because the show is walking dead, and they're lucky to be getting a "severance season" out of the deal instead of already being unemployed.

Lorre is WINNING.

Often wondered what a house like that (in 2.5 men), would actually be worth in malibu... 10 to 15 mil?

I think it would be a very big mistake to kill off Charlie Harper, because his character is the grassroots concept of the show. Loyal viewers are attached to the relationships that have developed between Charlie Harper and the ensemble cast. It is also what made the ensemble cast effective. Certainly, they will get big numbers from the initial curiosity seekers, but they will not achieve longevity if they interfere with those relationships. Chuck Lorre is a corporate bully, and for that reason I, personally, myself, don't want to see him succeed.
