Even though she was a Republican I admired her. She was for women's equal rights, abortion rights, gay rights, gun control, etc. She was not a typical Republican and didn't wear her religious views on her sleeve like a lot of Republicans do today. I heard she even liked Obama!

to all the Conservative's with a stick stuck up their a** who still is angry you got challenged by a first lady! the finger to u! its people like you who made the u.s. economy in this mess we in now! and it's people like you who Mrs.ford fought against and triumphantly won! during her fight no! but she won later in life! I give her credit for sticking for what she believe and not allowing the bushy old Conservative's to take her voice!! SHE MADE FIGHTING FOR PEOPLE LIVES AND WOMEN RIGHTS THE IT THING TO DO!She is a strong woman who is loved by many and hated by many.

brave woman who came out and admitted she had addictions and did something about them at a time when everyone else was hiding theirs

she helped to change the world of addiction and treatment because of that
we saw that it wasn't just the filthy looking addict in the alley or the drunk laying on the sidewalk who had a this problem

she leaves a remarkable legacy ...
bless her...

It is funny how people make heroes out of total losers when they are dead! Yeah, I'm talking about Betty Ford, and her Husband was not much of a President either.

I realize this blog is written by young adults, but to say "Betty was 93" is quite disrespectful to this former First Lady of the United States. Something like "Mrs. Ford was 93" or "the former First Lady was 93" is more appropriate.

I think she definitely took alcoholism treatment out of the shadows and removed the stigma for a lot of people.

She made quite a difference; she turned her life around, and helped her fellow humans by giving them strength, hope and encouragement! Her legacy will continue, just like Bill W. the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous.
RIP! Betty Ford. I'm thinkin' they're telling you up there: "Well done!"
