'Big Brother' Jeff -- Homophobic Shots At Dumbledore

7/13/2011 6:10 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

'Harry Potter' ignited a homophobic firestorm inside the "Big Brother' house ... after castmember Jeff Schroeder said he would never send his kid to a "fantasy camp" run by Dumbledore ... because he's gay. 071311_jeff_homophobe_still

It all went down inside the BB house last night  -- during a live feed on the Internet -- when Jeff and Kalia began talking about the fact J.K. Rowling wrote Dumbledore as a gay character.

Jeff -- shocked by the revelation -- says, "He's in a school with little kids, you can't make that guy gay!"

He added, "It isn't right to have it in a little kids book, and have the head master locked away in this magical land, be gay. That isn't the right kind of writing to do."

Kalia responded, "Why? Gay men can't work with little kids!?" ... adding, "Just because he is gay, doesn't mean there is a thing wrong with him."

This isn't the first time Jeff has been involved in a homophobic situation on the show ... back in 2009, he used a gay slur to attack a fellow housemate.

UPDATE: CBS just released the following statement -- "Any views or opinions expressed in personal commentary by a houseguest appearing on Big Brother, either on any live feed from the house or the broadcast, are those of the individual(s) speaking and do not represent the views or opinions of CBS or the producers of the program."

that guy is a jerk, just because some gay and or put in a place of power over kids does not mean anything if they aren't pedophiles. One can not assume that they are. Doing so makes one a bigoted fool.

Jeff and Jordan are perfect for one another. They're gonna have adorable and cute, yet charmingly stupid little kids too.

Christians also use to think slavery was not a sin because the Bible has many stories supporting slavery...interesting

I agree. Idon't think sexuality needs to be part of a kids book regardless of what type. No need to stress, there is never any hint in the book of any teachers preferences. Jk Rowling just pulled that out of her backside for publicity sake in an effort to keep the momentum going.

Just Reading

There are people who think Kalia is some kind of hero (the girl confronting Jeff) but NO ONE is mentioning nor up in arms about "her" racist statement referring to another contestant in the house as an uncle tom. Selective outrage is truly sickening.

I don't get how Hollywood has been able to set the "moral" standard these days? As a matter of fact, Hollywood stands by the "evil is subjective", non-standard.....standard.

But then they're objective about things THEY believe is good or evil! lol!

And to "Tom", 4 comments above mine.....

Lol, that's such a lie and you know it! It's too bad that of anything you could have posted, religious discriminating was what you chose to post.

($1,000 says you'll never post against Muslims! That's not "PC" is it? Gotta do what Hollywood tells ya, I guess!)

Sad, just sad.

I'm gay, and I wasn't offended. I'm only offended by people taking the right (mostly straight people) to defend us to straighten their stance that they are fighting the good fight where in this case, there is nothing to defend. Jeff was basically saying that children's books is not a good platform to talk about sexuality, especially about fictional characters, there is no reason for Rowlings to acknowledge that he's gay. Wether he is or not does not help or hinder to the story, so why bring it up.

I'm offended that people keep raising a stink over ANY or EVERY comment related to GL&T that straight people bring up. Same goes with race. People need to get off their computers and see the world a bit. We wouldn't have such a line drawn in the sand if people would quit taking the right to defend something that doesn't need defending.

Big Deal

Hey gay dudes Googa Pirate and Bubbles the Chimp (or whatever your names are)...have you ever made a racial slur? Called an overweight person "fat"? Call a woman a "bitch" or used any other inflammatory remark against someone who wasn't like you?

Yes you have...because we all, at one moment in time, have used poor judgement as did Jeff. At least he apologized and it was a good learning moment for him.

Unlike you neanderthals, he actually can learn from others.

What jeff said is bull. Dumbledore is amazing gay and fictional :) the infromation that dumbledore is gay is not new news .. Most REAL HARRY POTTER FANS see it as another level to the character and it explains alot .. Please read the books and it makes more sense . I think that an open mind is never too young to create and that it is prefectly fine to include such content in a childrens book .. Its not a book for five year todays world kids know more and deserve reading material that challanges and introduces new ideas into their lives . Being gay is not a sin . Jeff is a homophobe and certianly a house with strangers is not the place to reveal that .

Is it just me or is the guy making these remarks pretty gay himself. Come on. Those who are against homosexuality so much are just having a hard time dealing with their own homo thoughts. Embrace the homo everyone!

I completely agree with what Pecker said. I also don't understand how you can compare slavery to having an opinion on homo/heterosexuality. Don't start that BS. I think most black people (african- americans for the super PC people out there) would be offended that one could compare the 2. Wait... did I just try to defend people that didn't need defending and could have spoken for themselves? My bad.

Are there people out there that still think there is two sides to this argument?

His comments are homophobic or at the very least ignorant. Anyone who disagrees are either homophobic or again at the very least ignorant. That is not an opinion it is fact, educate yourself if you still feel that you disagree.

His reference was not about sexuality in children's books. I agree their should be none. That's what age certification is for. He objected to the suitablity o*****ay person working with children & this being read by children. Wether this was because he diagrees with the lifestyle or that there may by Paedo dangers i don't know. Whatever it is, it's wrong and ignorant.

Ref some posters on here - Anyone that uses 'the sin' card or religion have lost any credibilty. Like it or not religion is nothing more that a myth people buy into to justify their lives. All religious orginisation are run for power and wealth and you have been deceived. Wake up.

Harry Potter is series of books with far more darker things for younger kids to be challanged with than the possible sexualiy of one character that is so subtly reffered to it would fly faster over their heads than any of the magical tricks.

My brother is gay and has ten neices and nephews ageing from 1 to 20. We've never hidden the fact from them. He is a positive influence in their lives, all of them accept and love him for who he is and are better for it.
