Jeret Peterson Suicide
Salt Lake County Unified Police told KTVB ... Peterson called cops to tell them where he was before he shot himself.  His body was discovered late Monday night.

He had a lot of personal issues which always led him back to the bottle. My take . . . .I think after he won his silver in 2010 he was at peace with his life goal and accomplishment, it was gold for him. You could see in the way he spoke, and his emotions in his press conference after winning the medal that if he didn't live another day, it didn't matter, he landed the impossible "hurricane" and had his moment. He didn't want to "phone a friend" or "get help", I think he felt like he was just ready to go. He said he was giving up competition and just wanted to help people. The DUI didn't help, but wasn't the reason any more than maybe a final moment of reckoning. RIP Speedy, a sad ending to a great story.

Athletes typically don't transition well to normal life - I'm one of the few/rare exceptions.

Allow me to take a quick bow.
