'Inside American Jail' Lawsuit

I Was REALLY DRUNK

and Producers Humiliated Me

The people behind the TruTV reality show "Inside American Jail" are being sued by a former DUI arrestee who was featured on the show ... who claims producers did NOT have the right to put her on the air ... because she was TOO WASTED to sign the waiver form.

The woman behind the lawsuit is Lenette Beall ... who was arrested for DUI by the Las Vegas Metro Police Department on April 10, 2010.

According to the suit, Beall claims an "American Jail" camera crew recorded footage while she was being booked and processed at a Clark County detention center. Beall claims the footage was then edited to portray her in a negative light ... "to embarrass and incriminate [her]."

Here's the rub ... Beall claims she was "extremely intoxicated" at the time ... and does not recall signing a release or waiver which would've given producers or LVMPD permission to use her image.

But even if she DID sign a waiver in her drunken state, Beall says the waiver is invalid because she was "not mentally competent" to enter into an agreement at the time.

Beall says she was labeled as "Naughty Girl" on the show ... and says she's been the subject of "an avalanche of personal ridicule, scorn and unwanted recognition" ever since it aired.

In her suit, Beall also says the Sheriff allowed producers to shoot because the production company, Langley Productions, donated $10,000 to his re-election campaign in 2009.

Beall is suing TBS (which owns TruTV) ... as well as Langley, the LVMPD and Sheriff Douglas Gillespie. She's demanding more than $10,000 in damages.

So far, no word back from TruTV. A rep for the LVMPD tells TMZ, "We do not comment on pending litigation."

i hope she wins if true..just because one did something stupid and ended up in county jail it doesnt give the jail the right to allow tv crews to go in and take advantage of those who made mistakes

F*ck her. She deserves the scorn and ridicule. She made the choice to get behind the wheel and disregard eveyone elses safety. Even if they did manipulate footage....you drove drunk....you opened your mouth. When you go to jail there are already cameras on you. In the jail and the dash cam. Whats the difference??

News Flash Lenette Beall.....IF YOU ARE DRUNK ENOUGH TO GET ARRESTED FOR PUBLIC INTOXICATION IN LAS VEGAS, A CITY THAT ALLOWS OPEN CONTAINER ON THE STRIP, THEN YOU DESERVE WHAT YOU GET....ALSO COULDN'T HAVE BEEN THAT HUMILIATED IF YOU ARE ONLY ASKING FOR 10,000 FOR AN ALLEGED HUMILIATION THAT AIRED ON NATIONAL TV.

What a lame excuse for not being "mentally competitent" to sign the release. She's a drunken slob and needed to be exposed. What a pig.

Just 10,000 a chick is suing an insurance company because she walked into a plane propeller while sober. She needs to sue for at least 500K.

But I guess its better to start low and end up big.

I don't have any sympathy for this women. She should be glad that the cops got her first, and recorded how stupid she acted for future reference. Things could have been alot worse for her had she hurt someone else due to her own stupidity. Had she not been drinking and driving she would have never been put in this situation. Learn and move on, quit trying to get money for your own mistakes!

I see, and agree, with her point. However, didn't Girls Gone Wild win their case(s) when girls who were too drunk to be mentally competent to sign a waiver sue them after sobering up? Of course, maybe a law enforcement agency have different obligations than a man who'd rather take advantage of girl to get rich than put in a hard day's work.

I would sue too. I'm all for sensational TV, but I've always thought it isn't right to film these people who are innocent until proven guilty. Plus, a drunk person can't sign a waiver. I hope she wins.

The other piece is...they probably required her to sign official do***ents about her incarceration at the same time...might have been a little difficult to tell which was which if she was drunk. How DO you give informed consent then, anyway?

Gillespie should be investigated. Since he has been in office, police in Clark County went from "no where to be found" to very hostile, aggressive and abusive. Police in Vegas are punks that like to beat up people and act like they are patrolling in a prison yard- not a community of citizens.
