Britney Spears

Closing $15 MILLION Deal

To Judge 'X Factor'

4/18/2012 9:15 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

Britney Spears and X Factor have struck a deal
Britney Spears
and "X Factor" have struck a deal that will line the singer's pocket to the tune of $15 million for next season ... TMZ has learned.

We're told Britney's team and "X Factor" big wigs are working out "the fine points" of the deal, but the major terms are locked.

Once the final contract is drafted and signed ... it will go to Jamie Spears, Britney's daddy and conservator, as well as lawyers for the conservatorship. If they sign off, it must then go to the judge who oversees the conservatorship for approval.

Sources connected with the deal tell us ... it's a "virtual certainty" everyone will sign off. By the way, we're told Jason Trawick is "very involved" in the negotiations.

Simon Cowell, the "X Factor" Executive Producer, told us on TMZ Live Tuesday, "I would love to have her on the show. I think she would be a fascinating person to sit next to." Simon said they may make an announcement within a week.

Britney would fill one of two vacant seats on the judging panel. She's also way more expensive than the castoffs -- Nicole Scherzinger reportedly pulled in $1.5 million, while Paula Abdul raked in $2.5 mil.

"X Factor" refused to confirm or deny our story.

I thought these shows were supposed to be about the CONTESTANTS.

Just like American Idol - fluffing up all their big-name performers and celebrities as well as their mediawhore judges. These shows are supposed to be about the up-and-coming, the undiscovered talent, the CONTESTANTS themselves, NOT THE FREAKING JUDGES.

Damn.

How does someone with no talent judge talent? I'm just a little perplexed?

I like how they are paying her three times what the XFactor prize is to be on the show. Those contestants will love it. Well, I know that Melonie Amaro really admires her. Detractors need to understand that being an artist isn't just any ONE thing. Britney is a total package and DOES EXACTLY what an artist should do. She's sold over 100 million records, SO, people ARE going to listen to her. It doesn't matter if she's not even the most outspoken. People are going to be fascinated with her. Some will want to learn things, some will just want her there. Also, no matter what star you put on the show, people who don't like them always show up. It's when no one likes, dislikes or even cares that it's a problem for the artist. Look at Jim Verraros or Ryan Star previously from American Idol. Yeah, exactly. Who?

You guys are a bunch of haters. You're talking about how she's only gonna draw in ratings for a couple weeks and then people will get bored. MY ASS, the whole reason Britney has the level of fame still that she has is because PEOPLE HAVEN'T GOTTON TIRED OF HER YET. You may have, but there are still millions of people who like her enough to watch this show. If they are willing to continuely spend hundreds on her concerts and CDs I think they are willing to tune in at 7/central js.
