Amber Portwood

Sentenced to 5 Years

In Prison ... Again

6/5/2012 8:01 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0605_amber_portwood_01
"Teen Mom" star Amber Portwood has been sentenced to five long years in the big house ... again -- after asking an Indiana judge to reimpose her sentence, stemming from a December drug arrest.

Portwood was in court this morning when the judge reimposed the sentence. Her attorney asked for leniency, but the judge was unmoved ... insisting he had no choice but to enforce the terms of Amber's plea agreement.

Portwood's five-year prison sentence was previously stayed on the condition she complete a drug rehabilitation program -- but as we first reported, Portwood gave up on the program ... and asked to go to prison instead.

The judge said he would refer Amber to the Indiana Department of Corrections therapeutic community program -- an incarceration-based treatment program.

Portwood will be given credit for time served in jail.

With any luck that poor child will not know that his mother is a druggie. Hopefully he is well loved and being cared for by someone responsible.

Such a stupid choice. In prison, she'll be forced to give up the drugs anyway. Why not give them up and retain your freedom?

She's baaaack

I can think of so many things to say about this but all I can really think of is how bad her already-bad eyebrows will look after she gets her jailhouse brows on. I'm also thinking about that hideous picture of her child she has tatted on her stomach ... and how nice her jailhouse neck tat with Big Bertha's initials will look. What a stupid POS.

I'm going to support her choice, and I'm going to say it's the most responsible thing she's done in a very long time. She chose prison instead of drugs. She knew she did not have the willpower to stay away from them. 30-90 days at a treatment center for drug addicts does NOT help. They're just in and out. This is her last attempt to save her life. Good luck, Amber.

Classic! She hated the drug program and quit it thinking she'd just sit on her ass in jail. Nope! You'll still be in a drug rehab program but now your ass goes back to a cell afterwards. Way to think things through genius.

So, she dries out, does two years, then off for good behaviour and right back into the drugs. Sorry, I've had a family member do this, just because you stay clean in jail doesn't mean it will stick.

Addiction is a cunning and baffling disease. This poor young woman doesn't know how to live like other people do. She is sick. Hopefully she will get the help/treatment she so desperately needs while in prison. I am always saddened by the heartless and judgmental comments of TMZ fans regarding this illness.
