Katie Holmes
may say her decision to divorce Tom Cruise is over Scientology, but it's NOT ... so say sources directly connected to Tom.

Our sources tell us ... they believe Katie and her team are leaking false stories to the media by maintaining she was trying to save Suri from the grips of Scientology, and that's why she left Tom.

As one well-connected Tom source put it, "She [Katie] was totally committed to Scientology. She had enthusiasm for it and would voluntarily and gladly participate in it when Tom was off shooting movies."

The source adds, "This is not a fight over religion. It's being used as a way to hurt Tom."

And on the subject of hurting Tom, as we first reported, sources connected with the actor tell us Katie's people have made it difficult for him to speak with Suri by phone, but he's talked to her every day. He has no immediate plans to see his daughter because he's leaving today or tomorrow to shoot his new movie in the Rockies.

Tom's lawyers have not filed any docs in court -- yet -- to establish his custodial rights. If that happens, we're told they will file in New York, although it's pretty clear they will ask to have the case sent to California.

And, as for what Tom's people say the divorce is really about ... they won't say yet, but tell us it's coming.

I do believe that no one person knows what goes on behind closed doors........except for those behind the doors........however, I do feel strongly that scientology is a cult as I had a friend in it as well and pray that they get out sooner than later. All of them.

So why does Katie want to hurt Tom? That's really not her M.O. in anything she's ever done in any aspect her life so it would take a complete personality shift for her to go after him for no apparent reason. All you hear about her is how she's this really genuinely nice person. A person like that is not likely to suddenly become black widow back-stabber. I'm sorry, Nothing about that rings true. Nor does it make any sense to say Katie's "people" have made it diffiult to speak by phone if he's spoken to her every day. Any judge would be thrilled that daily communication is being encouraged by the estranged wife. That's all good stuff. What's the problem?

Duh. Of course she 'voluntarily' played along. She saw exactly what happened to Nicole who refused to. Left while in a hospital bed miscarrying a child all alone while Tom has been planning to also take away your two children.

The divorce not over Scientology? Good! Instead of another dumb celebrity divorce, Katie can bring down a global brainwashing scam, just by using it as an excuse. As far as the Scientologists saying Katie loved Scientology? Oh please. She's an actress. You think she's going to stand up and scream "This is brainwashing!" after her auditing sessions? What Scientology doesn't seem to understand, is that the history of Hubbard, his biography, is well do***ented. He was a fraud. Scientology has damaged thousands of lives and it's been about money-sucking from the very beginning.

It’s clear that she was afraid of the Church of Scientology; why else would she plan it out so carefully? Katie had to have some help, though; her dad is a high-powered divorce lawyer who probably saw this coming. Steve Hassan’s new book, “Freedom Of Mind” has a pretty good explanation of how to help someone get out of a cult: http://www.freedomofmind.com/
