The L.A. County Coroner has just begun the autopsy of Sage Stallone ... TMZ has learned.

According to our sources, it will be completed later today.

As TMZ first reported, the son of Sylvester Stallone was found dead in his home on Friday of an apparent overdose. His body was discovered by the maid.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe his death was accidental and no note was found at the scene.

Sage famously made his film debut alongside his father in the 1990 movie "Rocky 5" -- playing the role of Rocky's son Robert Balboa.

My sympathies to Sly, Sasha, and Sage's family. No one should ever have to bury their child.

My sympathies go out to his family... TMZ... stop. You're picking apart every inch of this trying to find a story where there isn't one. When someone dies, you should show some respect, no matter who they are. Someone is mourning no matter if you liked them or not... leave them be. RIP Sage. My heart goes out to Sly, Sasha and the rest of his family. The death of a child is tragic, no matter what the reason!

JC30 -- I couldn't have said it better myself.

As for all of the assumptions going on.....Everyone needs to just slow down with the trash talk. When was the last time Sly noticed his kid? Problably on his birthday (Sly's was on July 6th). Why did the mom call the housekeeper to check on him? Probably because he was a middle-aged adult and she didn't want to panic. Most times, its nothing but a mother is going to worry. The housekeeper has access to the home and is a paid employee who probably signed a confidentiality agreement. Safest person to contact. Why didn't a relative check? They probably weren't close enough and/or didn't have keys. Why was he supposedly dead for 3 days before anyone noticed? That's questionable -- how can someone dead post pictures to their Facebook page 17 hours before they are found? If the Facebook reason is "crisis/PR control" story, then if you are single, live alone, and do not have a 9-5 job (he was in the entertainment business), nobody's going to notice right away. Me? I live alone, and if I died on Friday night for some reason, nobody would notice until Monday (when I was due at work)..boom - 3 days even for a person with a 9-5 job. Drugs? Ok, everyone has prescription drugs in their house. He could have died of any number of reasons -- aneurysm, heart attack, stroke, heart defect previously not known (John Ritter), pulmonary embolism, the list goes on. Smells and a messy room? Maybe he was not feeling well in the days before and didn't bother to clean up after himself. And by the way, foks -- death smells. As the muscles of the body relax, so do the bladder and bowel muscles, releasing urine and excrement. Then you have the gases from the body being released during the decomposition process. The police need to keep their wazoos shut and stop jumping to conclusions -- this just encourages the public to do the same.

Let's all show a little respect for the family in their time of need-- this is a terrible loss -- remember? Someone's loved one died here, for what ever reason -- they are suffering.

Show so compassion tmz.... Let the story go.
Tmz, I am disgusted by your treatment of this sensitive subject. This person has a grieving family and you are discussing smells and how uncleanly the home was.
We come to this site for fun celebrity gossip...this is really too much. Let it go!

There's a problem here

He was no child. No matter what emotional upheaval he has in his life, and I'm sure there was plenty, the fact is he was a 36 year old man who obviously had problems. Someone with problems either seeks help or doesn't. . It's a shame that his life came to such a sad end and I'm sure his parents will bear the guilt along with their grief but he was a 36 year old man.

ONce again the nitwits at TMZ jumped the gun. If it isn't an overdose.. once again.. TMZ should be sued by Sly etc. What a bunch of nasty, silly girls you are.

I don't really follow Sylvester Stallone's career that much but I do have one question. He doesn't seem to be very arrogant like the extremely self-absorbed-ultra-jerk-face Bruce Willis. So is Sly really a nice guy, relatively speaking?
