Usher's Stepson

Family Can't Afford to Keep

Him Alive Much Longer

7/15/2012 6:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0710_tameka_foster_usher_raymond_article_2Usher's ex-wife -- Tameka Raymond -- will be forced to take her 11-year-old son off life-support as early as next month, TMZ has learned, all because his insurance coverage is about to expire.

Sources close to the family tell TMZ ... Tameka has not lost hope that her son, Kyle Glover, can make a drastic recovery ... despite doctors declaring him brain dead last week following a jet ski accident. We're told she is telling friends ... she still believes in miracles.

According to our sources, Tameka can only keep Kyle on life-support as long as her insurance company agrees to pay ... otherwise she doesn't have the funds to cover the enormous hospital bills.

We're told the insurance company hasn't set a specific deadline, but they've made it clear ... they're only willing to shell out coverage for a couple months ... tops.

Our sources say that Usher -- who helped raise Kyle for several years -- has been incredibly supportive in this difficult time... but has NOT offered to pay for any medical bills. We're told Tameka does not see him as a viable financial option.

As TMZ first reported, Kyle was struck in the head by a jet ski while inner tubing on Lake Lanier -- doctors declared him brain dead days later.

Just last week, TMZ's so called source was complaining because readers where sending their condolences out to Usher and Tameka. At the time the source said it was disrespectful to Kyle's biological father. But now that the insurance is running out, they try to publicly put pressure on Usher to pay. This source needs to pick a side of the fence and stand on it instead of jumping from side to side for convenience sake. Ryan should pay and Usher should send his condolences and try to help his boys deal with the emotional toll of possibly loosing their big brother.

Stop the BS - he's not going to “get thrown off his insurance” if the staff at TMZ read something other than Yahoo! news, they would have caught the article on the $2.5 million dollar a year Medicare patient - and would have also read MEDICARE will pick up the tab when insurance runs out so stop the grandstanding!!!! Ushers kids isn't going to kicked to the curb like the liberal democrats want us to believe - get the story straight!!!

I feel so horrible for this family. But this child is gone. He is not coming back. He was gone the moment he was hit by the boat.

I think this is terrible, but insurance is a business...her son is brain dead, there is no real medical or logical hope that he is going to wake up, so based on this the insurance company can't keep him on life support forever- that makes no sense and does nothing to help the family heal and move on. It is futile, they should unplug him and prepare for the most emotionally tough days to come. And who mentioned 'Obamacare?' This has zero to do with that.

This is a horribly sad and tragic situation, but if the child has had no brain activity since the accident the family needs to brace themselves to say goodbye. Neither the insurance company, nor Usher, should be expected to keep the child's body on life support indefinitely. I can't even begin to understand what the family must be feeling. I hope they are able to find some peace, eventually. I also wish for peace for the family friend who was driving the jet ski. They guilt he is experiencing must be unbearable. This is tragic all around.

SO WHAT NOW? Does she want donations from the public? Brain dead=death, let the child rest in peace and end this nightmare!

Damn TMZ stop making @UsherRaymondIV look like the bad stepdad! Kile has a biological father, Ryan Glover. It's Tameka R. and Ryan Glover responsibility to cover Kile's hospital bills, not Usher. The media has solely focus on Usher since news aired that Kile was stepson of celeb. Usher has enough on his mind leave the man alone already.

Did Ryan legally give up his parental rights?

Did Usher legally adopt Kile?

Tameka and Ryan are Kile's parents.

They are responsible for his medical bills.

Leave Usher alone!

I can't believe insurance will pay for that long. It's a tragedy, but the child is not coming back. Hope they donate his organs.

I hope they decide to donate his organs and that is why they are keeping him on life support. being brain dead that's the only reason I can think of him still being on life support. he could really help a lot of other people if they do.

I don't think usher should pay. HOWEVER, of I were him I would, even if it is just for the fact to make me look good in the eyes of the public and to get full custody. If he did this right he could look awesome.

To those who just say pull the plug. I have ab6 year old and if something like this ever happened I would be there with a gun making them keep her a live.
