Usher's Stepson

Family Can't Afford to Keep

Him Alive Much Longer

7/15/2012 6:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0710_tameka_foster_usher_raymond_article_2Usher's ex-wife -- Tameka Raymond -- will be forced to take her 11-year-old son off life-support as early as next month, TMZ has learned, all because his insurance coverage is about to expire.

Sources close to the family tell TMZ ... Tameka has not lost hope that her son, Kyle Glover, can make a drastic recovery ... despite doctors declaring him brain dead last week following a jet ski accident. We're told she is telling friends ... she still believes in miracles.

According to our sources, Tameka can only keep Kyle on life-support as long as her insurance company agrees to pay ... otherwise she doesn't have the funds to cover the enormous hospital bills.

We're told the insurance company hasn't set a specific deadline, but they've made it clear ... they're only willing to shell out coverage for a couple months ... tops.

Our sources say that Usher -- who helped raise Kyle for several years -- has been incredibly supportive in this difficult time... but has NOT offered to pay for any medical bills. We're told Tameka does not see him as a viable financial option.

As TMZ first reported, Kyle was struck in the head by a jet ski while inner tubing on Lake Lanier -- doctors declared him brain dead days later.

I am so sorry about this Tameka Raymond your son is no longer with us. Usher is not the daddy He did step up and fly you to where your son was taken for medical treatment.Would really want your sons life to lived on medical devises ? I know how hard it's to lose a son. My prayers are with you. This calls for unselfish love.

Only getting media coverage because the kid was briefly linked to Usher. He had no part in the tragic accident but since he's linked could help attract donations.

Basically throwing away money though, you can't recover from brain dead. Living on life support and never being able to function really isn't living.

Keeping someone alive artificially is selfish. They're just prolonging the inevitable. We had to take my grandfather off of live support in May, we lost him a few weeks later. Sometimes letting go is the best thing that you can do. Nobody should have to bury their child, but it happens. Lets just hope that she allows his organs to be harvested to save the lives of other children out there who actually do have a chance. Prayers to the family.

I know a girl whose parents were told to pull her off the machines, because she was nothing but a vegetable. As a last ditch effort, they transferred her to Baylor Medical Center, She made almost a full recovery, got released and is building her life back. IDK what kind of therapy they did, but it worked. She's an ongoing process, but she's doing wonderful and is living proof of what can be done. I, like most people, had written her off for dead, and thought her parents needed to accept that brain damage was irreversible. IDK, but maybe there's hope for this little guy too. The brain is such a mystery, and what is being detected as dead, may not be 100% accurate.. Maybe the machine isn't powerful enough to detect what's going on deep inside. I don't blame his mom for not giving up.

When a body is declared brain dead, there is no coming back from that. All they are doing by leaving him on life support, is pumping air into the lungs and heart. That doesn't mean he has a chance of recovery. A bigger problem is that when left on support, as they are doing, the body will begine to decay, as they normally do. The doctor's need to sit down and give them the cold hard facts that the boy is gone.

Miracles do happen. A few years ago, the doctors told us that our mother was brain dead and wanted us to take her off Life Support, we did not, 10 days later she slowely start to move her fingers and then open her eyes, we then transported her to another hospital for better care. She went to inpatient rehab.Thank God, we had 4 more precious years with her. So I do believe in MIRACLES AND PRAYERS. I will keep Kyle and his family in my prayers.

Not Usher's child, not Usher's responsibility, period. IF he so chooses to help out, that's simply his choice not his obligation. This child has two parents that should do all the can to keep this child's body alive on life support if that's what they want, but don't expect Usher's money to pay for it. IF this child regains brain activity, his quality of life will most likely not be the same, which means his existence (can't use the term "life"), will be very costly for the parents. I wish them well in whatever path they choose to take, but like I said before, don't expect someone else to finance that decision.

He has been supportive but hasnt offered any financial assistance for a boy he helped raise? hmm ok I would not be wanting his "support" either!

This is such a tragedy. But what this womans trying to do is shes trying to say that her son is going to survive being brain dead. Well, he's not. I believe in miracles, but this is not a miracle at all, your son is going to die one of these days, so make it younger over older. And Usher, where the hell is his money? He can use some of his profits from albums to help out his step son with insurance payments and hospital bills.

This is truly sad How about they pass a law against irresponsible people on jet skis? Have restrictions that they cant come near kids? DO THE RIGHT THING AND TAKE IT AS A LESSON AND PUT KILES NAME TO GOOD USE SO IT NEVER HAPPENS TO SOMEONE ELSES CHILD!!!!

I feel so bad for this young man whos life is over, Unfortunately maybe this tragedy can be used for future good, like passing a law against jet skis and boats to have restrictions and be out away from adults and children. there is nothing worse than having to bury your child but maybe they can make Kiles Law, and inform the public of the outcome and danger of jet skis around people! My heart goes out to the family and his mother, but this was not Ushers fault! So dont blame him, Blame the jack ass that hit this child!!! MAKE A LAW AGAINST THE JET SKIS AND ENFORCE THEM TO ONLY STAY OUT IN CERTAIN AREAS SO THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN!!

go home!

TMZ it's obvious you made this post in an attempt to make Usher look like the bad guy. How tacky of you. IF anyone is a bad guy it would be an insurance company that would not cover, although we usually have about a million dollars in coverage before we are dropped. The sad fact is, the child is brain dead...tell me a case where someone has come back after brain dead. They don't. I suggest you write your stories better in the future instead of using a poor boys tragic accident as a way to make a scandalous false headline regarding Usher.

I pray for Kyle everyday. I admire your strength. Yes, miracles do happen. Usher please help your family. If the insurance company gives up, don't you. People have been known to regain consciousness even after having been declared "brain dead" Kyle is young and his cells are constantly redeveloping. His brain can heal. Consult some of the best pediatric neurologists in the world if you have to. Egleston is not the last word. God is. Go to and read about this and other stories were medical science go it wrong. My prayers are with you, as is my faith in God.
