Les Moonves

NBC's Doing a 'Great Job'

Covering the Olympics

8/1/2012 7:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Not everyone hates NBC's controversial coverage of the 2012 Olympics ... in fact, the network just got HIGH PRAISE from its rival ... CBS President Les Moonves.

Les and his wife -- "Big Brother" host Julie Chen -- were on a double date at Madeo in Hollywood with mega-movie producer Brian Grazer and his GF Keli Lee ... an ABC casting executive.

But as the 4some left the restaurant ... Les made it clear, he's a big fan of the way NBC is handling the Summer Games ... despite criticism from fans who are upset the network isn't airing some of the competitions live.

"I like it all ... I think NBC is doing a great job," Moonves said.

We also asked the gang who paid for dinner ... and we got an answer! Check out the clip to see who the big spender was last night.

People crying that they aren't showing the games live, there are ways to watch them live. But people work during the day and they want to show the popular events at night otherwise they'd have nothing in Primetime to show live since there are no live events when it's 8:00 pm in America.

Anyone who lives in Ontario (that's in Canada for you Americans) knows that our Canadian coverage is far superior to NBC. CTV covers athletes from other countries because they know the world doesn't revolve around the U.S.

See if NBC mentions anything about the South African double amputee athlete running track next week! An amazing story.

I think it is ****ty that you have to be a cable subscriber to view their streaming content online. I pay for the internet and and that should be enough.

American's are not arrogant. We want to cheer for our American teams and since they play twenty-four seven for two weeks the network doesn't show the games of other countries unless we are playing them. Why is everyone so quick to tear everything apart? The games are so exciting and uplifting.

Harvey, what a huge fail for network television this year. This years Olympians have been completely and utterly shafted as far as feeling some of the media glory for these event and the whole Olympic experience!!! Past Olympics I used to just be able to turn the tv on at any given point in the day and all sorts of coverage, raw coverage of any and every event would be on. On the evenings, the big hitters would air. SImply, easy... a lot of primetime specials highlighting the players.... this year, it's so complicated and basically nothings really ever on and it's kind of a little project to find the events you want to see so most people I feel are just giving up trying to follow!.... if it weren't for twitter and TMZ and a few articles . there's such a lack of real coverage for these guys! They're amazing, where's the real coverage!
