Chad Johnson

In Desperate Attempt to Save Job

8/15/2012 6:25 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Chad Johnson
lied to his coach's face this week in an effort to keep from being cut from the Miami Dolphins ... but it didn't work ... and Chad's humiliating termination was all caught on tape.

Johnson's ill-fated meeting with Coach Joe Philbin was captured by the crew at "Hard Knocks" ... a weekly HBO documentary series following the Dolphins which aired last night.

"Hard Knocks" cameras followed Johnson on the day after he was arrested for domestic battery ... when he met with Philbin at the Miami offices ... and tried to talk the Coach out of firing his ass.

During the very short meeting, Johnson told Philbin ... "Coach, I've never been in trouble before ... ever."

He lied.

As TMZ previously reported, Johnson was convicted of domestic violence back in 2000 ... after slapping his then-girlfriend during an argument. Apparently, the arrest slipped his mind.

But even if Chad would have been honest with his coach, it's highly unlikely he could've saved his job ... Philbin made it clear the organization didn't want to take a risk on an aging player with very little upside and a TON of risk.

Welcome to the NFL kid...(or goodbye, that is) - This is the big league where you can no longer talk your way out of a jam - like back in high school when your talent was more significant than it will ever be with a pro team. So, pay your tax bills and don't beat on the women...Cool?

What is the angle of the Miami Dolphins recording this meeting and then releasing this video? Was Chad legally entitled to be informed that this meeting of termination would be recorded and potentially released to the general public? Is this even legal? Can our employment termination be recorded without our consent or is he considered Miami Dolphin's legal tender when he signed their contract? This is incredible!

There is an old saying that goes - When newlyweds head butt each other instead of kiss, a trip to the ER and an annulment is sure to follow.

Empathy goes a long way. I am personally hurting after watching that grown azz man beg for his job. Hell, I felt like I was being fired, again.
Give the man a break, damn.

I am pretty sure he was referring to his time in the NFL, meaning he has never been suspended for an arrest or for a failed drug test. TMZ, you guys really need someone who knows sports. Hit me up if your hiring. And Doris Taylor, what are you talking about? Chad Johnson has never played overseas.

Well the gold digger theory is out as they signed a prenup so he will get nothing and she will get nothing. However it will be a long time before he EVER gets picked up by an NFL franchise much like his buddy Terrell Owens. These are example of black men who have multiple kids and child support issues Chad has 4 kids and Terell has 4 kids and all from different mothers and all of the drama past that flamboyant lifestyles, narcissism and the comparitvie egos big enough to sink a ship. The man changed his name to reflect his jersey "eighty five" if that isn't narcissism I don't know what is then. And yet men like these considered talented and famous as the athletes they are rather than clean up their own houses compound them by jumping in the next situation with women that they hardly know all that well whom they marry. And we watch as they make poor life decisions or that they never completed college and their educations and they fall from grace like meteors or get steeped in scandals that humiliate and break them and then they are forgotten and our children aspire to be like them because of he fast money and the fast cars and all of the women. Chad Ochocinco is a cautionary tale..to finish college get your degrees and to stabilize our own lives and bring them to order before impulse buying and jumping to the next pretty face. The man had issues with anger management and violence and refused to get help and it cost him his career. Evelyn didn't though we will never know if she hit him or provoked him.. this seems to have been his answer in previous relationships.. to hit and to lash out. Men of restraint, discipline, integrity and honor don't do that. Men who let anger control them do that and they become statistics and casualties of their own rage and their children get to watch them fall. It is sad.
