Australian DJs

Due to Suicide

12/7/2012 11:20 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The two Australian DJs behind the Kate Middleton hospital prank that may have led to the suicide of a nurse have decided to REMOVE themselves from the airwaves.

Southern Cross Austereo, the company that owns the station, has released a statement ... saying, "SCA and 2Day FM are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the death of nurse Jacintha Saldanha from King Edward VII’s Hospital."

SCA says the CEO has spoken with both of the DJs ... who are both "deeply shocked" over the tragedy.

The company adds, "SCA and the hosts have decided that they will not return to their radio show until further notice out of respect for what can only be described as a tragedy."

Interesting that SCA did NOT pull the DJs off the air immediately following the prank ... but instead waited until the backlash after Saldanha's suicide.

I bet People are angry and upset because 1000's of news agencies were camped out in london in front of the hospital trying to get information that did not come from the palace and in one phone call from Australlia 2 radio DJ's from a prank that nobody thought would go anywhere got through and got more information than any one news agency.

Bit much commuting suicide over a mistake that is potentially job threatening - especially considering she left her two kids behind. But all opinions aside, these clowns should resign. Absolutely a case of a school bully pulling (what they think is) a 'prank' on a seemingly well rounded individual, only for it to be the undoing of their victim.

I didn't find the prank funny. Tmz has gotta do something with dumb-as-a-box-of-rocks, Mike. I can't believe some of things that come out of his mouth, poor grammar and all. He really believes he knows what he is talking about.......he doesn't.

Its one thing to pull a "prank", and another to try to trick someone into breaking a law, which is what they did. Giving out personal information, for someone with a license, can cause them to lose their license. So for these bozo's to pretend "it was only a lighthearted prank" just doesn't cut it.

Prank was pretty stupid. I think every radio phone prank is dumb. But in my opinion this can't be the only reason she took her life. this was just the straw that broke the camels back.

Radio jocks are the lowest of the low. Southern Cross Austereo is trash and so are the stations it owns. Trash, trash, trash.

If this bit was done on Prince Charles or Prince Von Ahole everybody would think it was funny, as a matter of fact the whole world thought it was funny, until a young woman died, and so far nobody knows how she died the Queen may have put a hit on her, and what would scotland yard do but cover it up. The world made the Royal family Untouchable. If a member of the Royal family commits a crime nobody would care especially if it were william and Kate.

They got fired

Pray for the nurse that she will rest in peace; hopefully the DJs will feel compelled to pay the burial expenses and everything else needed for her family to get through this tragedy.

The prank call is forgivable. The constant hounding of the nurses on their radio show the following week, talking about how stupid the nurses were, is not. Why humiliate someone repeatedly like that? She's a nurse for God's sake.

Its not their fault that nurse killed herself, but since they're Australian we should line them up against a wall and fire anway...

First of all, any suicide is horrible and senseless, no-one should ever feel like the only way to stop their pain is to kill themselves.
But why should the DJs be fired for it? I don't know how it works in England, but in Canada, hospitals cannot confirm is someone is even a patient. The most they can do is tell you *if* that person is there, they will pass along the message. You know, because of patient confidentiality. So regardless if the nurse actually thought it was the Queen of England, she shouldn't have transferred the call to the room. The DJs are not responsible for the nurses actions, and as such should not be fired.

I think if they add phoned and identify themself has DJ'S and got the phone put down on them and she had killed her self then I would agree that it is not there fault. But these two morons impersionated the queen and this lady who was an immigrant to the UK most of felt like a real idiote after she found out the whole world was laughing at her expense. What they did not know is was she waiting for her visa ,did her kids go nuts at her when they came home from school anf found out there mother was a laughing stock!! We don't know and saddly those two idiots in Australia did think any further then there own ego and self publicity. this the sad world we live in and it;s got nothing to do with the english protection of the Royals. i've lived there for 22 years and there are alot of brits that dont crae about the royals. lets not turn this into an australian issue a woman died!!!!!!!!! Shame on you two!!!!

WTF? Are you serious? I just listened to the recording on here. If TMZ published the whole recording then that is total bull ****. lol Woman killed herself because she talked on the phone? Nice one dumb ass. lol DJs shouldn't be held responsible. Its not like did anything or said anything bad. They only acted like they were the queen and was going to come visit. WTF is wrong with that? In no way should that have made someone go kill their self. This dumb chick was just looking for an excuse to off herself. I think if it would have rained later that day she might have offed herself.
