Australian Radio Station

Donating $500K in Guilt

Money to Nurse's Family

12/11/2012 6:38 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
breaking news

1211_2day_memorial_fund_Artice_2The Australian radio station responsible for the prank phone call that led to British nurse Jacintha Saldanha's suicide ... is planning to give her family about half a million bucks.

The corporation that owns 2DayFM announced it will donate all the station's advertising profits for the rest of the year to a fund set up to support Saldanha's 2 teenage children and husband.

The company estimates the total donation will be around 320,000 British pounds ... or roughly $500,000.

2DayFM's generous donation comes the day after it pulled the plug on the show that placed the prank call to Kate Middleton's hospital room ... with one of its DJs pretending to be Queen Elizabeth.

Saldanha transferred the call to Kate's room, and was found dead near the hospital a few days later.

her kids should be ashamed . not only did she destroyed their life . the life of the hospital stuff the royal familys life and the new borns life . the life of the two Djs . When this isn't selfish then I don't know what is. Nobody knew her face and she didn't even talk about Kate it was the other nurse . why didn't she kill herself when the prank was so horrible ?I hope her kids suffer if they touch the dirt money they don't deserve . they should pay the station and the royals for the damage their mother did to them

Quite obvious that the nurse was MURDERED. The scapegoats are the Australians, but who actually did the evil deed (murder)?

320,000 British pounds ... or roughly $500,000, so this is what a human life is worth? They should be paying the family this amount per month.

This is simply bull****. Paying the family for the mother killing herself? The nurse who received NO media attention? I can't even deal. This must be a joke.

Is is NOT the fault of the radio station that this woman committed suicide. There had to have been more to it than that. She wasn't even the nurse who gave out the information. That nurse didn't committ suicide. She had to have have problems before the prank. While it is a tragedy for the family, stop blaming the DJ's.

Uh oh i am screwed

Sorry but this whole thing is out of hand. If the lady killed herself over putting a phone call through there was obviously a hell of a lot more going on in her life than is being revealed. I feel sorry for her kids as their mother chose one of the most selfish things to do and didn't give a crap about how it would affect then, BUT IMO the dj's are not responsible for her death. She chose to kill herself, she chose it, no one made her do it. I am a former receptionist/switchboard operator and i know that calls that shouldn't get put through. It isn't the end of the world. You move on, you don't kill yourself over them.

As for the DJ's The radio station approved the call to be aired so IMO the manager who gave it final approval to actually be aired is the one who should be fired. (I am also pretty sure lawyers were involved in approving it)

The hospital is also at fault, there should be protocols in place on what to do to protect its patients (especially the royal family)

The djs are sorry about this but there is no way they knew the person answering the phone would be mentally unstable enough to kill herself.

The first posters are accusing the nurse for choosing herself to end her life, that she was crazy, or that she had other things going on. Fair enough, BUT, yes, but, this was the straw that broke the camel's back and sent this woman over the edge.

So, yes, I put the blame squarely on the radio station DJ's. I'm not a psychologist but true, they did not expect this tragic result, but they were a major contributing factor to this lady's demise.
