Mel B

BOOED!!!

On 'America's Got Talent'

Rough start for Mel B, one of 2 new judges on "America's Got Talent" -- she was loudly booed during the first day of taping for daring to diss brass music.

Mel was in New Orleans Monday, along with Howie Mandel, Howard Stern and Heidi Klum.  The first act of the day was Lagniappe, a very popular New Orleans brass band.

Mel told the band ... she's not a fan of brass music.  Bad move in The Big Easy.  The audience went nuts on her, screaming "Go home," and "No respect."

Mel became unglued, and leaned over to Howie, who comforted her.

Heidi did fine. We're guessing being really, really hot helped.

I love Mel B but it takes a special kind of idiot to diss brass music in New Orleans. That's like dissing a country act in Texas. Perhaps this is why America's Got Talent should have, you know, American judges.

Brass music is awesome - proving that Ms Brown got no taste.

That being said, she does have the right to disliking it... but KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE, Melanie. The hell did you expect to happen after saying such a thing in NO - that people would just be cool about it!?

You dumb bitch.

Judges should keep their personal opinions to themselves. Judging shouldn't just be based on your personal tastes but on a real assessment of the talent, ability, performance, and the competition. Howard Stern does the same thing. He doesn't like much personally, and likes nothing I like, so his picks are always disagreeable to me. I'd rather see a fair assessment of the talent presented. She doesn't have to like brass music to try to judge their presentation relative to their competitors. Otherwise, she, and Howard, are not ready to be judges of a contest that presents all types of acts.
