Sued Over

Alleged Rapes

Two women have filed a lawsuit, claiming they were drugged and raped by employees of one of the hottest restaurant/bars in Hollywood -- The Abbey.

The club has been a fixture in West Hollywood for more than 15 years.  According to the lawsuit ... a gay woman who says she had never had sexual relations with a man was at The Abbey with her girlfriend in November, 2011.  She says she and her GF had a fight, which upset the alleged victim.  She ordered a drink at the bar and claims it was laced with a date rape drug.

The woman then claims she became impaired and a busboy allegedly took her outside and raped her.

Another woman -- who is straight -- claims she went to The Abbey in April, 2011, and was served a drink that was also allegedly laced with a date rape drug.  She alleges an undocumented worker at The Abbey then took her across the street to his car and raped her.

The women claim owners of The Abbey either knew or should have known that employees were allegedly slipping patrons drugs and then sexually assaulting them.

In the lawsuit  -- filed by Beverly Hills lawyer Robert Hirsh -- each woman is asking for more than $10 million.

The owners of The Abbey had no comment about the lawsuit.

I call b.s on this one. Why wait so long to do anything about it? How did "victim #2" know the busboy was undo***ented? Did she question him while he was "raping" her? These to are simply money hungry morons!

I don't believe this story. As others have mentioned above: 1. Waiting 2 years. 2. A bar back person or bus staff having enough access to drinks. 3. Across the street where? At Bossa Nova or the Hamburger Habit ? 3. I don’t believe a corporation such as SBE (owners of the Abbey) would hire undo***ented workers because the place is so high profile, insurance etc. I sometimes go to the Abbey and enjoy it. It does get a bit crowded on certain nights. I have never complained about their drink prices which do tend to be a little high but not compared to some places up on Sunset etc. If you don't like to pay $6 for a Heineken or $11 or $12 a drink go somewhere else that charges less. They seem to have enough people who are willing to pay their price. I don't think these women will prevail.

I am not surprised at all. GBL is a drug that is cheap and easy to get. When mixed with alcohol, the victim goes into a blackout. It is unknown the exact number of victims drugged and raped in the US because the drug is not traceable in blood or urine test after five hours so standard drug testing doesn't work. That's why so many sexual predators prefer to use it. It is also called "liquid exstacy" by its street name. Police rarely will do much about a rape involving GBL because they can not proved it was used. It is cheap, ordered online, and not regulated in the US. Which is exactly why they have to sue. The state pushes victims of sexual assault into suing so they don't have to waste time or money processing a rape kit. It also takes about a year to get a case to trial. These women are not gold diggers. They are victims of a system that does nothing to sexual predators, including pedophiles. In the US, out of every 100 reported rapes, only one rapist will do any time behind bars and that can be limited to one day for booking and processing before bailing out.

Let's see:

Fact 1. 2+ years (which is within statute of limitations)

Fact 2. Currently we don't know if she did do a rape kit or DNA testing. In this case, probably not. There was also no mention of a child being born because of this, so therefore there cannot be DNA testing.

Fact 3. For an amount of >$10 million each, that's an extreme amount, especially after waiting for such a long period of time with, from what I can see just based on this story, has caused this much mental anguish.

Fact 4. There is no evidence of the 'date rape drug' due to the length of time.

Determination: It'll be thrown out and/or dismissed as another frivolous lawsuit.

But that's just my take.

Wow. There are some haters on this board. Why is it easier for people to accept an unseen God, a zombie apocalypse, or aliens, before being able to recognize two different women who didn't even know each other were drugged and sexually assaulted at a bar? They we're. Accept that. As far as the amount of money. How much do you think would be a fair amount if it was YOU or someone you loved who walked into a bar, was drugged and sexually HUMILIATED and the bar did nothing about it? How much is it worth to you? The police don't go after rapists. They don't. And do you want to know why? Because even when a rapist admits to doing it, people STILL don't want to believe it. People can't believe they are looking at a rapist. They will even try to create a rational in their head that a woman must be lying about her sexual assault. If you don't believe me, look at the comments on this board. You have already tried and found them guilty of being sexually humiliated and seeking justice because the law will not help them. I hope you realize you are apart of the problem, and not the solution. It is narrow minded ignorance and hatred that allows pedophiles and rapists to walk out of courtrooms every day. Good job contributing to that problem.

At Ron what the hell does it matter what price of drinks are? Get educated about rape. It happens to men too. Believe me every restaurant has undo***ented workers working with false socials. what world do you live in?

Not surprised this place has some very shady employees. Something similar happened to friends of mine, but no assault, but they were drugged. We called management to complain and they ignored us.

Abbey has become a ghetto hang out for years now especially of late since they don't charge covers, im sure they dont screen their employees' background either, I'm not surprised that these incidents happen!
